If someone is under anaesthetic they don't experience pain.
Why is that? The assemblage of molecules we call the brain has been affected by a drug, or more molecules. So the pain experience stops because of materialism. And when the drug wears off the pain may return again because of materialism.
You are failing to explain why reality has such phenomena available and available only to consciousness.
If you'd like to participate and contribute to our understanding then neuroscience is the field for you. Much has already been discovered. You may not like the implications though.

Their is a primacy of conscious experience.
Well certainly. That is the reality within which we exist isn't it.
I see no valid reason to sacrifice this mental immediate realm for an ideologically loaded materialist dogma.
Are you suggesting that consciousness exists without a material substrate?
If the material is so worthless why does the creator create it in the first place?
(That last question only if it applies to your beliefs)

man with mostly missing brain.
He was able to function normally despite this handicap because he worked as a civil servant.

free will
Removing consciousness to some realm away from the physical doesn't really solve any of the problems associated with the idea of free will. The consciousness would still have to interface with the brain which sends and receives the signals that control the body. The brain obeys the laws of physics and chemistry. So the transition from one state to the next has to occur in accordance with those laws. How does free will cause anything that is truly free if it is limited to sending signals out through the brain and those chemical signals are constrained to be the result of the previous brain state?
It is possible for a particular action to be the result of a number of different brain states but it is not possible for the same brain state to result in multiple distinct actions. So then how could an immaterial consciousness or an emergent free will cause anything to happen since it is limited to working on the previous brain state and what is physically/chemically possible to follow from that state?

consciousness of dogs
Conscious is not a trivial issue to be pinned loosely atop prevailing paradigms. That is clearly some peoples desire. It challenges the materialist paradigm.
The dream this dog is having challenges the materialist paradigm, but loses.
