Very few people seem to understand that the First Amendment was intended to protect government from religion AND to protect religion from government. With both an admirable economy of words and delightful use of metaphors, Omnivorous makes this point as clearly as one can. Now if only Christian Dominionists and their followers could understand and appreciate the point.
