Where it reads "and evil" is translated as "and calamity". Especially if you read the context of the whole chapter. However I'm sure you know that...

I dont think the video is nuts at all. God never makes us come closer to Him any more than He makes our enemies attack us. He does foreknow that such things must happen, however.

Which is different than evil. In that verse it refers to punishing the wicked.
How then to reconcile the punishment of the innocent? In addition, if they are wicked, are they not still God's creations? And in so being merely being punished for being created as such? One may engage in apologist calisthenics all they might but the duplicitous contradiction remains to be adequately explained imo.
