I am telling you right now I mean no offense to anyonoe here, but im am somewhat interested in the results of this topic. Who here believes in same sex marriages and all that? Agian I don't want to start anything bad, I just want to know if creationists, or evolutionists feel the same way over this topic. It should be interesting.

SS - OFF TOPIC
I recommend that you delete the topic from "The Great Debate", and repost it, with a more descriptive title, as a "Coffee House" topic. Moose

I normaly didn't want to, but I had a theory I want to test. I was interested in the idea that people with the same general oppinions in areas such as creationism would feel mostly the same about other controversial topics. You can deleat this if you want to, but I thought the results may appearto be intriguing.

That would be a good idea. I was hoping for the day that I would "brain" out in the debate area and then repose to more lighter conversationsations after a conflict results in a data collision or not. SS whether snake, sex or solid if all three for same sex if it means humans definitely seems bit tangent to a debate regio

I think that its the grossest thing ever and its a sin. Also having a same sex marriage is like telling God to pretty much screw off, so i doubt they're truly christian. I would bet that they would claim to be christian to gain some acceptance, of course someone that becomes married to their sin has no credibility or good intentions in my eyes. Also its naturally wrong, we were meant to mate and mating is what we do, and we do plenty of it. Theres nothing gained from same sex marriages other than temporary emotional satisfaction but even then emotion isnt nature based and being gay isnt christian so the only thing same sex marriages can be is evil. Im sure the queers might be good samiritans but that doesnt save anyone from eternal damnation.

That is hideously ignorant and offensive. The disturbing part is that your opinion is in the vast majority for Christians.

ignorant and offensive? I thought the originator wanted people's opinion. Just because you don't agree with KP; what makes your view any better?

I think homosexuality is a sin.
If gays would like to do what they do, that's fine with me as long as they leave me alone. However, I think there should be severe punishment for homosexuals who force themselves on other men.

Solid Snake, let me guess. You hypothesise that there is a strong correlation between holding conservative views on creation / evolution and holding conservative social views on such issues as homosexuality, abortion, capital punishment, gay rights etc. I don't think you'll be winning any Nobel Prize on this one. Maybe they are simply indicative of a cluster of opinions and worldviews held by those of fundamentalist religious views.
Would you expect the same correlation in a predominantly islamic or hindu society?

I am always amused by those who say, I don't care what gays do as long as they don't hit on me. What makes you think it is any different than a guy hitting on a chick. The majority of the time, woman will smile politley and wait till the guy goes away, because most advances are usually unwelcome. They don't usually freak out and get hostile (usually) when a guy hits on them. Now, I realize most of us heterosexuals, especially males, feel uncomfortable when hit on by someone of the same gender. Well, here is a tip, if it does happen, just politely decline. If you are so insecure in your own sexuality to panic, well , grow up. Intolerance is not a virtue. As long as someone's lifestyle doesn't involve hurting or abusing another person, why should we care?

quote: Be careful, your hatred and fear of gay people is starting to show. I suppose that YOU shouldn't have a same sex marriage, then, if you feel that way. What makes you think that you should decide what is right for another person, if they aren't hurting anyone? Don't Christians hold that love, commitment, and long-term relationships are valuable, and good? Also, do you actually think that all marriages outside of Christianityare evil? Yet another display of narow-minded arrogance. [This message has been edited by schrafinator, 03-19-2002]

quote: Gee, that's just what gay men sit around and do; think up ways to force themselves on all the straight guys. I think it's funny that you are so worried about gay men forcing themselves on you, when most gay men are probably not interested in straight men at all. You know, we women have had to worry about straight men forcing themselves on us for as long as there have been men and women, yet we interact normally with lots and lots of men, and a great many of us have husbands and lovers who are men. So, how do you think we manage to do this?

quote: I have a pet theory about why men freak out when another man hits on them. I think it is the knowledge that another man "could" overpower them, and this is just too scary. Well, guess what? The majority of women could be overpowered by the majority of men, and yet we don't freak out every time a man hits on us.
