Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
I've written many times at my blog about how "ecumenical" prayer for the nation can only bring God's judgment, a curse rather than God's blessing. How stupid can we get?
If today's quality of life is a curse, then I say we need to be cursed more often.

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
Not just quality of life but also morality. Today the typical westerner is far more moral than Jesus.
I am always curious about what time period was so much better than the present, according to the religious right. Go back 100 years and women couldn't even vote, they were discriminated against at the work place, and blacks couldn't eat at the same lunch counter as whites in certain areas. Go back 200 years and people were dying at a young age from diseases that no one really gets anymore thanks to antibiotics and vaccines. Our life expectancy has gone from 45 to 85. Infant mortality has gone from 20% or worse to 1%.
When was this golden age that the religious right keeps talking about?

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
She's lost husband and children recently because she refused to compromise on gay marriage and other "liberal" causes.
So you are saying that God would have punished her for compromising on liberal causes by letting her stay with her family?
God's judgement on those who defy his laws is to put them into a loving family?

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
Things are, however, a lot worse now than they ever were before in my lifetime, if that's what you mean.
What things are worse? How would your life be better in the past than they are now?

Mad as I get at all of you, when it really hits me how bad it is going to get I do feel sorry for all of you and hope you will see that Jesus can save you if things get as horrible as I think they are going to. It may be a lot harder on me at first but I'm not worried about me in the end, but I am worried about all of you.
Christians have been saying this for 2,000 years. When is it supposed to get bad?

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
Just today we had the Muslim Imam as "guest chaplain" in Congress and the members actually bowed their heads for prayer to the demon god Allah.
You think showing respect to religious freedom is bad. I will keep that in mind.
To you this is probably just fine, to me this is very heavy judgment by God against America from which I don't see any possible recovery.
What judgement?
It may have to go much further before you notice things aren't exactly as you'd like them to be, and you probably won't make any connection with the true causes of it either. The nation is heavy with sins of all kinds.
How are things worse? People have never been more free. Medicine has never been better. We are living longer, and our children are more safe today than they ever have been in the past.
If this what it is like when things get worse, then I really, really hope that things do get worse.

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
And they like to tell us repeatedly that Allah "does not have a son" so how can anyone say he is the same as the God of the Bible?
Nowhere in the Torah or other scriptures does it say that God has a son, so how can the gospels be describing the same God?

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
The full revelation of the Messiah was not given in the Old Testament, it had to wait for the New Testament, . . .
Then the full revelation of Allah was not given in the Old Testament, but it had to wait for the Koran.
Same logic applies.

Oh brother. You must love Islam. Well, you'll probably get your chance to choose beheading or joining them before too long.
Yes, because christians have never done that, right?
Wrong. When Charlemagne conquered the Visigoths he gave them two choices: death or conversion to christianity.
The Messiah was known to the Jews through prophecy throughout their history, they never heard of Mohammed or Allah and repudiate them to this day.
Never was the Messiah described as the Son of God, and Jesus failed to fulfill those prophecies as you have been shown time and again.

Re: An interesting example of women speaking during a service.
Charlemagne was the Pope's man. Romanists have done those things, yes, not Christians.
Roman Catholics are christians.
What next? No true scotsman puts sugar on his porridge?
What you think fulfills prophecy is worth nothing. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies, as known to anyone who understands how to understand.
Once again, it is the Faith strategy for dealing with reality. If the evidence does not agree with you, stick your head in the sand and believe even harder.

Re: Just read and believe the Bible for a change
Just read it and believe it. That's the only way you'll get the answers to your questions.
Using your method, every religion would be true.

Re: Just read and believe the Bible for a change
There's not much if anything to believe in other religions, it's mostly precepts and instructions to obey.
Read the Quran. Just read it and believe it.

Re: Just read and believe the Bible for a change
You really ought to listen to some orthodox traditional Protestant preachers some time.
Then you should listen to some orthodox traditional imams, especially for your misreadings of the Quran. Remember, just read it and believe it. When you read the Quran you have to fully believe it is true, and then you will see that it is true.
