Of course. Who cares?It's a topic often-enough discussed that people feel the need for concise terminology. The same way people prefer the term "computer" to the poorly-descriptive phrase "lightning in a box thinking device".The existence of every word is a case of 'special pleading' in as much as it reflects speakers' desires to compact the things they talk about most often into smaller, more manageable chunks.But, again, who cares?

I guess the people who might care are those who are being denied access to certain positions within US society based on their lack of belief via terminology that embraces religionist special pleading.More generally anyone attempting to make a logical argument about theism might object to being hampered by the use of terminology that incorporates special pleading at it's heart.

At a guess I think I've said about 30 times that you can't be agnostic about belief, just pick a couple of my posts randomly - but you know, people here have got so used to their entrenched postions that getting them to think about something in a slightly different way seems to trigger an autonomous brain fart.

If you find it offensive and want a euphemism for it, suggest one. Otherwise stop being ridiculous.And no one is being denied access to anything within U.S. society. I'm not sure what it means to be "agnostic about belief." But you surely can be agnostic about the existence of God.
