Roy Moore is such a great example of the Christian Cult of Ignorance that it is hard to believe he really exists and is not just a character in a low budget sitcom. You would think that he might learn from reality but no, it seems he is immune to that. Just over a decade ago he decided that Federal Laws and Rulings didn't apply in Alabama only to discover that jolly gee wiz, they did apply even in Alabama. But now he is at it again; says the Federal Ruling that struck down Alabama's ban on same sex marriages doesn't really apply in Alabama and so Justices are free to deny issuing such licenses.
What is really scary is that once again just as back in 1861 there seems to be wide spread support for the Judge's position that Alabama is not subject to Federal Laws. But remember Winston County.

what's the record for State Supreme Court Justices getting thrown out of office?
I wonder what the current record for State Supreme court Chief Justices getting thrown out of office?
But the man is certainly entertaining and fun to laugh at.

Laughter really is the best medicine
Faith writes:
And there's the barrage. Nicely done. I think you all touched on all the usual accusations and false claims. Since I've answered them all a bazillion times before there's no point in exerting myself again.
So once again you can only claim to have already provided evidence or support yet no link to where or when that might have happened.
But the point is that Roy Moore really seems to be a very slow learner with no understanding of Constitutional Law, history, reality, justice or the government of the USA despite having been taught that lesson repeatedly. Perhaps it is just a matter of senility or loss of memory and not yet another case of flagrant failure to fulfill his legal obligations.
Not to worry though, the citizens of Alabama will just have to pay yet again for his remedial education.

small point

Either you think the Constitution should be the supreme law of the land or you think states have the right to disregard it.
It's one of three legs that make up the Law of the Land, the other two being laws passed by Congress and signed by the President and Treaties.

Oooh. Nice one Jar. Hey didn't you get suspended once for posting a reference that we had to look up to understand? LoL
Only once? I must be remiss or slipping.
Or in 1963.
What is so funny about Roy Moore (beyond just his general antics and ignorance) is that there was speculation a few years back that he planned to run as a Presidential Candidate of the Constitutional Party. It makes you wonder if he has ever read the Constitution or like Biblical Christians and the Bible just listened to the sermons and apologists.
Hopefully though the spirit of Winston County still lives in Alabama. A good sign is that when Roy baby ran for governor of the State of Alabama he could not garner even twenty percent of the vote.

you really haven't read the Constitution have you Faith
Faith writes:
I think it's the SCOTUS who are acting unconstitutionally by calling the vote by state citizens unconstitutional.
Now that is a great example of willful ignorance Faith. You haven't read the US Constitution or the Bible have you Faith?
Please explain how the SCOTUS can act unconstitutionally, Faith as well as provide the evidence that has happened, or is this just another of your unsupported assertions?

The jokes just keep coming
Thanks Faith; it's comforting to know there's the Family Research Council to provide laughs even after Judge Roy gets throw out of office yet again.
Clarence Thomas has always been a joke and this, while not his best, is worth a chuckle.
Clarence writes:
"I would have shown the people of Alabama the respect they deserve and preserved the status quo while the Court resolves this important question."
And then there is this jewel ...
quote:
If there are consequences, Washington County Probate Judge Nick Williams said, so be it. "I'm not worried about following the U.S. Constitution."
A Judge that is not worried about following the U.S. Constitution? Are the people of Alabama so stupid that they vote in Judges that do not follow the law?
But as I said, the Christian Cult of Ignorance does has laugh value if it were not just so pitiful.

Interesting. I read that as he's not worried about following the Constitution because he IS following it. Difference of opinion on what the Constitution requires.
Yet another example of the NewSpeak common to Biblical Christianity.
Please point out where in the US Constitution is says that States Laws can override Federal Laws?
Or is this just another example of the willful ignorance of the Christian Cult of Ignorance?

more misrepresentation from Faith
Faith writes:
So Christians running a business are fair game, no more First Amendment for them. I wonder what the Founders would say about that.
LOL
They would say exactly the same thing that they did say, that no one has a right to force their religion on another.
But wait, there's more.
You still have not provided any evidence that a wedding cake validates or enables or sanctions a marriage.

A wedding cake would be an endorsement of the rite for which it is made. That is how Christians see it and what you think is irrelevant.
Again, please show how a wedding cake endorses a marriage.

This ridiculous revisionism that makes one religion responsible for another is totally bogus and in fact works to deprive CHRISTIANS, oddly enough not any other religion, of our First Amendment rights.
There you go flying off into fantasy land yet again.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
What First Amendment Rights have been deprived from anyone?
Are the bakers not still free to be bigots, to worship their evil god, to think same sex marriage an abomination?
Have they been forced to marry someone of the same sex, even attend a same sex marriage?

I keep hearing how similar things are here and now to Nazi Germany in the 30s. Corner your opposition, marginalize them, do a big propaganda campaign to be sure they are hated as enemies of progress and prosperity, in this case known as "bigots" and backwards, perhaps low IQ and deserving of extermination. Well, we're the ones keeping you from "evolving" the Perfect Society, right? Homosexuality was a cause celebre then too. Oh and take away their guns, first get them to register them so you'll know where they are and then swoop in and take them away before you herd them off to the camps. Oh and we're about due for a Krystallnacht too. Thugs and vandals destroyed the property of the Oregon bakers. It's coming and you'll be doing the new version of the Heil Hitler salute before long. Hitler loved evolution too.
Oh good grief, what utter rubbish.
How can you even imagine Biblical Christians rise to the height of being worthy of hate and not just pity?
Can you show any evidence of any attempt to exterminate anyone?
Can you point to anyone other than the Christian Cult of Ignorance that has claimed to want to build a perfect society?
Do you have any evidence to support any of your allegations this time?

Most Alabama Probate Judges understand Judge Moore is an idiot to be ignored.
Now for the good news.
It seems that most Probate Judges in Alabama understand that Roy Moore is just an idiot and bigot and so are issuing same-sex marriage licenses. At least 43 of the 67 counties now comply with the law.

Congressional prayers
Faith writes:
But prayer opened Congressional sessions in the time of the Founders which should show that they didn't regard it as a violation of the amendment, wasn't ever seriously opposed and continued into the present.
While such prayers may be annoying they are of no importance or consequence and no one needs listen or pay attention or even be in attendance. It is a pretty simple and harmless way to mollify the nutjobs and then get on with the business of governance.
As long as the Christians cannot get any of their silly nonsense passed into laws it does no harm to let them chatter on.
AbE:
This is very similar to how folk should react to idiots like Roy Moore. Allow them to pray or spout their bigoted nonsense but then just ignore them like you do whining preteens. Nod you head and tell them that is an interesting point but don't let them force their nonsense into law or education or social policy.
Tolerate their speech regardless of how annoying it might be. Treat them with kindness and pity and continue trying to educate them.
Edited by jar, : see AbE: an attempt to tie Faith's nonsense to the topic.
