As marc9000 pointed out let the voters decide and that be the end of it.
so if the voters decided to strip black people of the right to vote you'd be ok with that carrying on without any intervention by the federal government?

As I've said a million times already, there are some cases where the majority has to give to the minority and that is the case with racial discrimination. It is NOT the case with a bogus "discrimination" made up against a tiny minority made into a bogus special class of people who used to be defined by what was called Sin and/or Unnatural Behavior. This is NOT a legitimate minority. Sorry. We should not be required to change a universally recognized law that marriage is between man and woman to accommodate a tiny minority of aberrants. There are other ways of making their lives more comfortable than by making the majority miserable and depriving decent law-abiding citizens of their living.

Right, it's fine with you if people who did no harm to anyone in running their business are now subject to harassment and fines because of their religious beliefs which require that they not serve a particular event. Right, that makes sense to you, it makes no sense to me or anybody else who could be in that position.
What you aren't getting is that it is the Christians who are being targeted for discrimination, to be run out of business because of their beliefs. Gays do not have to patronize those businesses, they have plenty of choices, but they choose to harass and hurt Christians.

Is that Pinto's argument you wanted us to watch? As arguments go it sucks.
But what's happening in this case is the minority is ruling the rest of us.
What minority? Gay rights support polls over 50% consistently. That kinda kills your argument.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

So then states should still be able to allow slavery, women should not have the right to vote and children should still be working in coal mines. Got it.

Businesses do not have religious beliefs that they can exercise to deny rights to others. That's a privilege granted churches, not businesses.

Universally recognized law? Evidently not. Marriage is a civil affair. It follows legal codes and can exist quite nicely with no religious input.
How the hell does gay marriage make majority miserable. Anyone can make a living, they can just not discriminate if they plan on serving the general public.
Why are you fundies so hung up on other peoples sex lifes?

Forcing it down our throats is the main similarity, having no respect whatever for the majority, which believe it or not IS supposed to rule in this country according to the Constitution, with minority rights also respected
So, no significant similarities then. Especially as this is about refusing to respect minority rights.
quote:
But what's happening in this case is the minority is ruling the rest of us. Driving Christians out of business is tyranny of the minority
The legalisation of gay marriage and the laws that prevent businesses from discriminating are separate issues. (Though I note that in both cases it is your side that takes a position similar to the racists, if you or Chris Pinto really think that that matters) . Besides, it is hard to say that a majority favour denying services to gays, and even if they did it's not a law targeting Christians specifically, any more than the same laws targeted Christians when they outlawed refusal to provide services to negroes.

Don't be nave. The only people who are going to refuse to serve a gay wedding, or PREDICTABLY going to refuse it, are Bible Christians.

This is a very recently made-up application of marriage to a bogus group that has no business getting married.

Funny, I would have thought freedom of religion was, not a privilege, but a God-given RIGHT, which is how it has always been understood until recently, a RIGHT, and not granted to any sort of institution but to PEOPLE. You know, human beings.

The only people who will predictably refuse to provide services to gays are anti-gay bigots. And given the number of Muslim countries with the death penalty for homosexuality,I very much doubt that that is restricted to Christians.

Good point. So let's find out how many Muslims offer services for weddings, and if any can be found, how many of those are targeted to be run out of business for refusing the service to gays. How many have actually refused it and whether any action was taken against them.

"Anti-gay bigot." Right, vermin and cockroaches. Right. People who know from God's word that homosexuality is a sin and marriage is for a man and a woman. Right, just anti-gay bigots who have no right to go on earning a living in the supposedly freest nation in the world. Ha ha ha.
Life. Liberty. Pursuit of Happiness. Ha ha ha.

Interesting. I read that as he's not worried about following the Constitution because he IS following it. Difference of opinion on what the Constitution requires.
Yet another example of the NewSpeak common to Biblical Christianity.
Please point out where in the US Constitution is says that States Laws can override Federal Laws?
Or is this just another example of the willful ignorance of the Christian Cult of Ignorance?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
