Misquoting each other is waaay too easy. My favorite misquote is one I created from the words of a virulently anti-creationist: Richard Dawkins.
quote:
In plain language, there came a moment in the evolution of hominids when God intervened and injected a human soul into a previously animal lineage. Richard Dawkins, When Religion Steps on Science's Turf, FI #18, v2, 2002)
He actually said this! Of course, it's just a tad out of context, but still...

I thought the instigator of this thread WANTED us to quote out of context? I, for example, missed off the end of the sentence, but I didn't MISQUOTE anyone...

Lets sum up the debate so far over here.
Edge: The dates did not match those in the same formation elsewhere
Willowtree: We have Isochron method - a method specifically touted to be free of anomalous errors.
Edge: They were dating against other dates.
Willowtree: Experiments and research and results are determined by objective scientific basis.
Edge:The dates didn't agree with the fossil evidence.
Edge: I'll bet your watch is off a bit.
Crashfrog: There's no such thing as time.

I'm terrible at quote mining, but here goes.
The rat denounces christianity and the literal interpretation of the bible in this thread.
"I would also say it would be immpossible for the ark"
"I can't use it, because millions of others believe in different religions."
"because of all the idiot Christians out there"
"This is why we need smart people like you"
"and help weed out all those bad ones."
"not believe in God"
"Different people need different religions"
"Christianity is on the decline in this country"
"good is going to happen here. Lets see what happens the next few years."
Also in this thread.
"As far as one religion being a effective truth, I would have to disagree"
"There is no way a religion could ever be a truth. Your religion would not get you any closer to God than the next one. "
"religion was created by man and run by man. "
"There is also nothing in the bible "
"You don't need a religion to do that"

i know this thread sort of died, but i ran into the best one i have ever seen the other night. now, keep in mind, this is a full sentance, no alterations, no [...] etc. i copied this right from the source.
quote:
According to BBC correspondent Justin Webb: "Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush."
i can be found on the back blurb of "George W. Bush, Faith in the White House" on vhs or dvd, which is coming out on tuesday as "An Alternative Program To Fahrenheit 9/11"
frankly, the rest of the back just made me angry, but taken out of context, that's a great quote.

science "produces facts based only upon scientific determinations"....."that experiments determine facts" unlike you religionists who depend upon the subjective views of the preacher and his interpretations of the Bible.
When I say super smart it means women who are trouble makers and not useful in every room of the house.
...atheists are objective regardless of their personal beliefs
Name withheld just for the fun of it.
