If either partner finds themself idolizing the other and/or worshiping them than no, they shouldn't be married. If two men who are in a relationship do not finds themself idolizing the other and/or worshiping them, then should they be married?

If either partner finds themself idolizing the other and/or worshiping them than no, they shouldn't be married. So the more in love they are then the more reason they have to not marry?Love your enemies!

Hey Phat, may I ask if you are married, have ever been married, or have ever been partnered?

No on all three. I have had lots of close friends and intimate relationships, however. Personally, I don’t believe that men should have feelings for other men...on the same level. That being said, I also feel that The church should not fight such relationships.Perhaps they can counsel and discuss such issues with their own members, but even then they should tread lightly and be sensitive.

So the more in love they are then the more reason they have to not marry? Lets define what "being in love" involves and why it requires intimate physical contact.Saying, "I don't know," is the same as saying, "Maybe."~ZombieRingo It's easy to see the speck in somebody else's ideas - unless it's blocked by the beam in your own.~Ringo If a savage stops believing in his wooden god, it does not mean that there is no God only that God is not wooden.(Leo Tolstoy)

Phat writes: Marriage is a civil contract. And a church may bless and sanctify a marriage. Do you have a problem with that?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Actually...after thinking about it...no. I have no problem with it.

Are you going to have a discussion or just keep pretending like you don't speak English?

OK, here is my opinion, Mr. Jon.
.I think that allowing gays (or any couple) to do whatever they want is not how the church should be. the church should encourage people to pursue their higher calling... I suppose the church should not demand that you come clean about what you do in the bedroom... but they should encourage their members to pursue higher callings. Perhaps the whole same sex thing should not be a major issue any more. Perhaps people in general should just be all treated the same.Saying, "I don't know," is the same as saying, "Maybe."~ZombieRingo It's easy to see the speck in somebody else's ideas - unless it's blocked by the beam in your own.~Ringo If a savage stops believing in his wooden god, it does not mean that there is no God only that God is not wooden.(Leo Tolstoy)

No on all three.
And that clearly shows in what you have been posting in this thread.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

But you're not distinguishing between needs and wants. You're distinguishing between men and women. Opposite-sex marriages can have the same problems that you're complaining about, so why distinguish them from same-sex marriages at all?
The problem here---as I see it---is that you people don't understand the basic differences between needs and wants.

What the churches could be doing is encouraging the two men to have a matrimony that is holy, in the same way that they do for a man and women. You know, giving yourself totally to the other person while keeping your union loving and promoting of good values. Staying hung up on whether or not they should "allow" it, while the men are going out and getting married, misses out on a great opportunity to keep God in the picture. They're going to have to stop being so dogmatic about hating men lying together if they don't want to be left in the dust.
