Windows 8/8.1 is pretty good on a PC with third-party apps that get you away from that horrendous interface. The decision to force everybody into a touch-oriented interface was IMHO worse than the decision to hope Vista would just catch on without getting the nerds on board. (I thought Vista was technically pretty good).

Thank the Lord they finally caught on with Windows 10.

Alt-tab changed in Vista but changed back in 7 AFAIK. What difference do you see?

Have you looked into XAMPP? Apache, MySQL, Perl, and more in one bundle.
