That's why I say that churches should stay out of marriage. The "communion with God" mumbo-jumbo is an individual thing, unrelated to the civil contract of marriage.
If a minister wants to also be a justice-of-the-peace, that's fine. If he wants to superimpose some religious mumbo-jumbo on the civil contract, that's fine too as long as the couple agrees. But he has no business redefining marriage according to his own beliefs.

Re: Phats Opinion

The problem here---as I see it---is that you people don't understand the basic differences between needs and wants.
But you're not distinguishing between needs and wants. You're distinguishing between men and women. Opposite-sex marriages can have the same problems that you're complaining about, so why distinguish them from same-sex marriages at all?

I personally believe that a child needs a mother.
So lesbian marriages are cool then.
I personally believe that a child is lucky enough to have one good parent. Two or more is a bonus, no matter what gender.

So do you accept that it is actually relatively easy for gay couples to have unwanted children?
There's a difference between having children and having children.
You can have children that somebody else had. You don't have to want children to have children but you usually have to want children to have somebody else's.
Although the original statement probably wasn't intended to examine the question that subtly.

Use the appropriate definition of 'have' children.
Tell that to Cat Sci.

I don't think Cat Sci needs any correction.
Since my post was about using the proper definition, I don't think I need to be reminded about proper definitions either.
