Re: 9 dead in SC
Gosh I guess you don't know that the Islamic Caliphate has been planned for decades, centuries really, and its leaders have stated openly that a main strategy is to conquer the world by building up their population in the nonMuslim nations. Foolish Europe and liberals in general ignore all that. Hate? Listen to your own virulently hateful voice some time.

Re: 9 dead in SC
More guns is not the solution because the data suggests that the more guns, the more gun violence. The likelihood of a gun being used successfully for defense is outweighed by the likelihood of the gun being used against oneself, family or friends.

Yes, the Muslim population hasn't quite reached critical mass yet.
But when they do, Allah will cause guns to rain on them from out of the sky, yes?

Smuggling seems the more likely route to me. Or they may prefer scimitars and bombs. Dead is dead, massacre is massacre.

More guns isn't the point, better ways of using the ones we've got would help more. Both for availability where needed and for safety.

Turning schools and churches into armed camps is the anti-answer of the gun lobby. It wouldn't surprise me if they proposed that school and church outings require a designated shooter for defense.
It doesn't matter how you slice it. The more guns the more gun deaths. We already have too many guns.

Does anyone know if the shooter in Charleston had the legal right to have his weapon?
And Faith, do you normally take a pistol to church? Do you know people who do?

Should the number of government guns be reduced then? If so, how would that be enforced? (I'm talking about police, Dept. of Homeland security, the military, or any other government agency)
If you DON'T consider it possible, or necessary to reduce government guns, then do you have a greater trust of government than you do free citizens? If so, do you have historically sound reasoning for that trust?

Re: 9 dead in SC
Nobody has suggested the shooter didn't have a legal right to own a gun which I would think would have been made an issue by the media if he didn't, especially since the state supposedly has strict gun laws. Not strict enough obviously.
I don't own a gun and I wouldn't know if anyone I know carries a gun to church. However I also don't know the law about that here.
Where it's allowed, though, there's no need for making a big deal of it. At most one or two are likely to carry a gun as a matter of course, and they are concealed after all.
Isn't it obvious that if just one person in the Bible Study had a gun many would not have died?

Texas already passed a law not only allowing, but requiring, at least some designated parts of public college campuses allow concealed carry. This should work out well, considering that in my experience the average Texan is far more driven by emotion over reason than the average person in the other three states that I have lived in for more than a year, California, New Mexico, and Washington.
You don't have to take my word for it, ask Sam Houston:
quote:
Let me tell you what is coming. Your fathers and husbands, your sons and brothers, will be herded at the point of bayonet. You may, after the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, win Southern independence... but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche... they will overwhelm the South.
Some things never change.
I guess I have to obtain a concealed carry permit and a Glock for self-defense by August 2017 as my workplace will then be rife with religious fanatics, Klansman, skinheads, conspiracy theorists, 9-11 truthers, and unrepentant Civil War traitors, all packing heat.
Lebanon and Sweet Home, Oregon are sure looking like a good place to relocate for an early retirement.

Read not to contradict and confute, not to believe and take for granted, not to find talk and discourse, but to weigh and consider. - Francis Bacon

No, it isn't obvious. I think you must have some Hollywood movie shootout in mind, but the truth is that if someone in the church were armed then there are an entire range of possibilities, most of which still result in many deaths. Police in this country are mostly armed, and they're frequently shot and killed. Being armed is not a panacea.
What is clear is that any guns owned by members of the congregation were more likely to be used against themselves, family members or friends than for defense.

I'm in favor of reducing gun prevalence among the police as circumstances warrant, the military no.

On top of all those, Anglagard, you probably get a bunch of them damn Snyder residents over there too. They worry the hell out of me, and I'm one of them! (Maybe an atypical specimen).
