That doesn't follow. A fictional foil or soliloquy represents a person's thoughts. Real people have conflicting thoughts too.

You're the one who's mixing real with fictional. It's all fiction, whether some of the characters are real or not. If your beef is with how the authors constructed their fiction, boo hoo; write your own fiction.
