Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship the answer?
These scholars and experts are at the forefront of this research. Apologies but you will have to listen to at least one of these clips to get what this O.P. is all about.
Some tips for how to talk to your teen about watching porn. HINT: It's not to tell them to stop. - Upworthy
Philip Zimbardo: The demise of guys? | TED Talk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSF82AwSDiU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKAehegqTvg&feature=em-su...
Is it possible that in sexual matters, the right wing conservatives might be ahead of the left wing in their thinking?
If not, then what should the left do to help us save our children from the indoctrination via internet porn into unhealthy and unwanted sexual habits? Or have them not be able to perform without porn?
I consider myself left wing but I think we may be going a tad far and should move to the right on this issue due to things like you saw in the clips above as well as what is shown in this clip below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=a...
At one time, parents would have closed any shop that gave access to the young to porn. Yet today, parents do not seem to care and as more and more young children get cell phones, parental prohibition will be impossible.
Have parents forgotten how to parent and are men and women willing to allow the status quo to ruin the sexuality of the next generation?
"Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime." - Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart
To date, I have lived by the above quote. I do not lack confidence in our adult population but see this issue as more of a medical one and I am willing to censure for our children's sake.
Some Eastern countries have used censorship to gain control of what their children can access. Should the West do the same?
Are our children worth it?
Regards
DL

Internet What...?
I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm a little confused as to what you mean by 'internet porn'.
Perhaps you could post a few examples?

Not to complain of where you put this but censorship is a political question.
And the health of our young is a medical question and with censorship as the side issue is definitely political.

I say censorship is never answer.
With great freedom comes great responsibility.
If our next generation gets challenged, they surely won't get ruined. Could be the next "Greatest Generation"....

Phat
I showed my dislike of censorship as well.
I also showed that as high as 50% of children between 12 and 25 are being effected to the point of dysfunction and addiction.
How high of a rate of damage would you tolerate before advocating for censorship?

porn is an incomplete experience
Is it possible that in sexual matters, the right wing conservatives might be ahead of the left wing in their thinking?
No. Repression is not an answer. Where does it end? Banning Victoria's Secret ("soft porn") ads (they show more than Playboy did in the '50's)?
If not, then what should the left do to help us save our children from the indoctrination via internet porn into unhealthy and unwanted sexual habits? ...
Sex education. Real sex education, not just in how systems function but in what behavior is appropriate for a caring, sensitive, sharing, interactive relationship, and what behavior is self-centered, bullying, coerced or forced (ie rape).
ie show that porn is an incomplete experience.
Enjoy

Re: porn is an incomplete experience
RADZ
I showed what educators in Europe are teaching.
Care to share your thoughts on what is shown?
Even with education, the addictive properties of internet porn will get to a lot of our young me.
I showed that as high as 50% of children between 12 and 25 are being affected to the point of dysfunction and addiction.
Even if we were to drop that rate, how high of a rate of damage would you tolerate before advocating for censorship?
Regards
DL
P.S. I saw a thing on the news last night showing parents protesting because the government wants to increase sex education in schools. Parents are not qualified and most are not interested in doing so so.
Even the teachers are saying they are not trained and would look to nurses for the teaching.

That sounds like a decidedly dodgy statistic - 'as high as', children at 25?, 'to the point of'
Where did it come from?

All I have put comes from the links in the O.P.
That stat is in the first link.
All the links show statistics but not all the experts are saying where they are from.

I sometimes compare porn with spectator sports. Watching football is an incomplete experience but censorship of football would probably be harder to sell than censorship of porn.

I don't think so, that link is about this study

If you want to continue the football analogy, perhaps the closest thing would be "training films?"
