Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship the answer?

TangleThat is what I have in statistics.I did watch a few programs and some are calling it an epidemic.The net has quite a lot on the issue but I have not collected any other stats.Regards

There does seem to be a lot of crap on the internet, but my understanding is that most porn sites are not free. I don't know how many kids have credit cards, but I don't expect very many are going to be willing to pay very much for porn.The biggest victims of porn are children and those who are powerless that are being exploited to produce it.It seems unlikely that the U.S. or any other country could actually censor the WWW (World Wide Web). How would you stop free citizens from looking at web sites in other countries?The only people who can stop kids from accessing porn on the web are their parents. I wonder how much my grandson sees on his computer at home, (he built his own) and there is no way to control what he sees when he is at someone else's house.Parents can explain to their kids about pornography....that it is not a reflection of real life sex and how it is exploitive of the people in it, but parents should be putting everything on the web in perspective for their kids.You do your best to give your kids a set of values, but eventually they will grow up and make their own decisions.

Your understanding is wrong. = very few people; a small percentage of those who actually appear in pornographic images/videos/other content. The Chinese do it and it's not really that hard. If the signal you're sending/receiving ever hits a physical location within the boarders of your country, then your government can censor what you view online.A direct satellite connection might help you work around this, but even with that your access would be limited. So they should lie to their kids?

This internet porn thing is reminiscent of the warnings we had and ignored about that evil swivel-hips Elvis character and his demon cohort Buddy Holly. They not only ruined the moral fabric of an entire generation of American youth they set the stage for the free-love hippy demon-morality generations to come totally destroying the very underpinnings of moral American society.As a consequence we ended up with a totally screwed up society just like all the others in generations past ... but with better music.

Maybe Jon is right. Nah.But, you do need to get out more. Three of the biggest most popular porn sites on the net are free and they contain, so I'm told ... by other people, so many "categories" as to keep a dedicated 10-year old enthralled until he gets out of high school. That continues, in spades, I'm sure. The most interesting thing to my eyes mind is the literally tens of thousands of young ladies and old ladies and young couples and old couples who upload their cell phone videos to these places unpaid, unexploited. The porn producers have got to be pissed that sooo much good stuff is being produced outside their business model.It's a human thing and there is no stopping it. So true.

Why rely on what you're told?Just do a simple experiment.I googled 'porn' (does it get simpler than that?)The first five links (so I didn't have to scroll) all went to free porn video websites. It appears each one contains enough material that one could watch the videos non-stop 24/7 back to back and still not see them all in their lifetimefor each site!Seeing this, I can imagine only an idiot would pay for their porn. And given how easy it was to find, I cannot imagine many children are having difficulty so long as their browsing is not restricted through some sort of filter.

Try to find any child porn and see how hard it is.You might review that first link as the expert speaks of how most parents are not teaching children about sex or porn.Even if all parents were qualified to do that teaching, a % of kids will always ignore the warnings.Censorship or restricted access is what is required and we do not have that. We could easily have it but adults are self-centered and do not care about the welfare of our children if it is to cost them one of their pleasures, it seems.Regards

You have access to the greatest education tool yet devised just as I do.Gary Wilson indicated that because of the newness of research, statistics were hard to come by but the net is providing more and more on this issue daily and hopefully better statistics will pop up.At present we have a lot of workers in the sex dysfunction field and they are the ones calling it an epidemic.News agencies are as well but are not quoting stats.Regards
