You must have missed that our government as well as others are trying to censor/control the amount of addictive materials that food companies put into what we eat.
There's a difference between regulation and censorship. Regulation has to do with real-world things like speed limits, health and safety, etc. Censorship is about ideas. Regulation of ideas makes "wrong thinking" a thought-crime.
Greatest I am writes:
Why not let them also do that when as much harm is being done as there seems to be?
First, it doesn't "seem" to be doing much harm. I would argue that Facebook and Twitter are as harmful as porn - with the added disadvantage that they are more socially acceptable.
Second, as I have already said, even if there is some harm associated with porn, it's the lesser of two evils. Censorship is a form of prohibition and prohibition tends to do more harm than good. Prohibition of alcohol largely caused the rise of organized crime and the prohibition of recreational drugs perpetuates organized crime today.

Prohibition did not create the criminal empires. Demand for the product did.
"Censorship is about ideas."
I am not advocating censorship of any ideas. Just items that produce addiction in our youth.
You may not think that those horrendous stats and effects on our young are not worthy of note but I do.

Wrong. There's a demand for water, isn't there? Prohibit water and you can bet your bottom dollar that criminal empires will rise to meet the demand. Prohibit porn and it goes underground where the criminal element can exploit women to a much greater degree.

It's a slippery slope. If you give government the means to censor some things on the Internet, what's to stop them from censoring other things as they see fit? What if they decide socialist ideas are harmful?

One more time, I'm talking about the lesser of two evils. Censorship is worse than whatever harm you think is associated with porn.

Your "rise to meet demand" makes my case.
"One more time, I'm talking about the lesser of two evils. Censorship is worse than whatever harm you think is associated with porn."
Porn has little evil in terms of the children and young adults we are talking about.
Internet porn, thanks to it's addictive properties holds a lot of harm.
Many are saying that just the internet and cell phones are doing damage to society. My wife certainly does and she, rightfully, is quick to tell anyone at our table to turn them off.

How so? You said that prohibition didn't create the criminal empires and I pointed out how it did.

Again, it's the lesser of two evils. Censorship has the potential to do much more harm than a little addiction. Why don't you address that point?

Prohibition did not create the demand. It was already there and that demand is what created the black market.
As to a little addiction.
Page not found - Your Brain On Porn
Tell me, just how much addiction is too much when it is our children that we are talking about.
Even with no addiction, follow the last link in the O.P. and tell me what you would say to the 14 year olds that that link speaks of.

Nonsense. There's a demand for water. That demand doesn't create a black market for water. Prohibition of water would create a black market.

You keep ignoring the point of the lesser of two evils. Censorship is worse than addiction. Kindly address that point and stop pretending that you're the only one who cares about children.

No. You tell us what's in the link.
