Yes it is:
Eye for eye is eye for eye not killing people.quote:It's all one sentence, no distinction between one and the other. Faith writes:
Punishment = vengeance. It's a formula for making the punishment fit the crime. And how this makes anyone a lover of vengeance is beyond me. But of course it ISN'T about punishment at all. What part of the word GIVE do you not understand? Nothing is accomplished by TAKING and eye or a life.
Faith writes:
So you forgive them and then execute them? What do you think forgiveness means?
Christ's loving mercy doesn't save convicted criminals from punishment.

You're confused by direct Bible-quoted proof that you are wrong? No surprises there.
That is such a confused morass of a post I'm too tired to even try to answer it.

That's pretty much the definition of "made up".
A great deal of doctrine is inferred....

If the original sin was eating an apple, that isn't hard to beat.
Early on, I inferred that "original sin" must be a challenge. I did my best.

Yes, it represents - i.e. it isn't literal. Even you can't help being right instinctively once in a while.
The talking snake isn't a myth. It represents Satan....

It isn't about belief. It's just that the eastern orthodox churches still use the Julian calendar for religious purposes. We have a lot of Ukrainians around here who celebrate both Christmases.
I understand that there are people who celebrate Christmas on Jan 6th because they believe that the added 10 days to the Gregorian calendar were inappropriate.

quote:They met because he was leaving on the next day. Presumably, if he was leaving on the fourth day, they could have met on any day before that. quote:That doesn't appear to have anything to do with church meetings.

But they are not. The wording is clear: they met the day before Paul left and no other reason is suggested, nor is it suggested that their meetings followed every seventh day after that. You're making it up.
It has always been understood that those are references to the day of the week the Church met for worship...

For the same reason I'm still using Windows XP - I haven't bothered to change; I have no need to change. It isn't because I believe Windows XP is better; it's just good enough.
Why isn't the use of the Julian calendar for religious purposes a matter of belief? NoNukes writes:
It isn't important. They just didn't bother to change. Your own quote says it's a preference, not a belief.
Why is it considered important to use an old calendar...?

Exactly. It's quite a stretch to use it as a basis for Sunday worship.
Was this meeting on the first day their normal habit, or was it an unusual occurrence? We can't say for sure from this text alone.

So they can be objective.
These weird and befuddled creatures will shortly announce their views to the world on matters of which they have absolutely no knowledge - sex, contraception, gender disforia, adult same sex relationships and just, well, families.

No, "we" aren't supposed to take them seriously. Believers are supposed to take them seriously (one brand of believers, anyway). "We" are not required to get "our" knickers in a twist about it.
... and we're supposed to take them seriously?

Millions of people vote for conservatives. That has much more serious consequences and I take it much more seriously.
Right... best not let them try to influence anybody that matters then.
