I'm still sitting comfortably on Windows 7. I never did consider Windows 8, especially after all the negative response it received from consumers.
Regarding Windows 10, I see no reason to upgrade anytime soon. My current system hums along nicely and I don't have any dependencies that require me to upgrade to a new operating system. Considering MSFT's track record on releases, I would prefer to bide my time and wait for all the kinks to be worked out before I decide to jump in.

Re: Getting dragged kicking and screaming into Windows 10
I am going to have to bite the bullet myself and upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7. My computer is eight years old and its time to switch.
I have been using Windows 10 for work; that's what my corporate PC runs. After getting used to MSFT moving shit around, it's honestly not that bad and seems pretty stable. Definitely boots much faster. Although that could be attributed to my corporate PC running a solid state drive versus my desktop running a hard drive.
When I upgrade, I will definitely be getting an SSD for my new system.
