Re: not really funny but ...
Well, Coyote, y'know, when you find that two groups of people have exactly the same enemies ... liberals, Obama, evolutionists, women, atheists, homosexuals, Syrian refugees ... well, one does feel a little like it's the end of Animal Farm, you know what I mean? "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

From 1941 Doctor Suess
This was in response to the rejection of taking in Jewish refugees

Yep this sums up HOUSE perfectly.

Solar Farm Rejected Amid Fears It Will 'Suck Up The Sun's Energy'
Residents were concerned it would stop plants from growing and cause cancer.

Re: Solar Farm Rejected Amid Fears It Will 'Suck Up The Sun's Energy'
I didn't check your links, but I'm presuming it's the same thing covered by PZ Myers:
But waitsolar energy isn’t consequence-free!
PZ says:
quote:
Everyone is talking about that stupid town that voted against solar energy because it would suck up the energy of the sun. So I read the story from the local paper, and hey, it wasn’t as stupid as it was made out to be, and there are actually valid arguments against solar farms.
More at the above link, including a couple of links not reproduced in the above quote.

Yes, same story, different perspectives. There are good and bad aspects to all human activity. A friend in NC sent me the link and said he runs into the level of ignorance portrayed in the story often. As a college professor he has to deal with the dismal primary school education of his students every day.

Re: Solar Farm Rejected Amid Fears It Will 'Suck Up The Sun's Energy'
Not that new. Back in the 60s when I was designing some of the early cable systems one of the oft repeated objections was that cable sucked the TV signals out of the air and folks' antennas would no longer work. And that was from some California residents, not North Carolina.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
