With the Northern Lights come many mitesWhich carry their story to us.Tho’ tis hard to glean from each little geneThe story that’s in the dust.
Codes now reveal life’s story we’llCarry within each of us.True it is scary just how little we varyBut carry this story we must.
It’s quite a grand scheme, our Creator’s dreamTo bury within the dustIn each little lobe of every microbeThe essence of life in trust
Through space and time it’s truly sublimeThat from these seeds will bustAnd finally grow into the life we knowOn our speck as glides though the dust
In our global thaw it was man’s luck of the drawTo evolve into a formThat can truly dream a glimpse of His schemeOn a world that is still warm
And maybe somehow, probably not nowBut sooner than later we mustAll realize man’s minute sizeAnd how small his part in the Cosmic must!
J. Perry 2003
Ages on agesbefore any eyes could seeyear after yearthunderously pounding the shore as now.For whom, for what?On a dead planet with no life to entertain.
Never at resttortured by energywasted prodigiously by the sunpoured into space.A mite makes the sea roar.
Deep in the sea all molecules repeatthe patterns of one anothertill complex new ones are formed. They make others like themselvesand a new dance starts.
Growing in size and complexityliving thingsmasses of atomsDNA,proteindancing a pattern ever more intricate.
Out of the cradle onto dry landhere it is standing:atoms with consciousnessmatter with curiosity.
Stands at the sea, wonders at wondering:Ia universe of atomsan atom in the universe.
