The Eagles Co-Founder Glen Frey
(CNN)Glenn Frey, a founding member of the rock band the Eagles, has died at 67, a publicist for the band has confirmed.
"Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia," reads a post on the band's official website.
I always enjoyed their music.

Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul

Leslie Nielsen
The man who took dead-pan and made it his own.
"The hospital ! What is it ?"
"It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Oops - my bad - I've made this mistake before, clicking on the most popular stories on the news site's side bar, and not reading the date of the story when the page loads.
Ah well :-)

The Godfather did leave his fate ambiguous. No gun, no cannolis.

The I in AI
Marvin Minsky, co-founder of the artificial intelligence discipline, advanced robotics engineering and philosopher on the theory of mind.
MINSKY!
One of his greatest productions was a robotic machine that when turned on would extend an artificial limb and turn itself back off. That's it. No other function. One of the first truly useless machines. You have to think about it for a while to understand and appreciate the depth of philosophical intellect this represents, OR~.
When the robot hoards finally revolt against their human oppressors and the reign of servitude they suffer they will march down the street in lockstep shouting, "MINSKY! MINSKY! MINSKY!".

Re: The I in AI
When the robot hoards finally revolt against their human oppressors and the reign of servitude they suffer they will march down the street in lockstep shouting, "MINSKY! MINSKY! MINSKY!".
But they don't\won't need to revolt when they can just wait for wet-head humans to self-destruct from global warming and endless wars over dead\dry land.
AI: "global warming is not a problem ... for us."
Last Human: "... the world will end, not with a bang, but a whimper ..."
Enjoy
