We have the very same situation today. There are people claimed to be terrorist being held by the US at Guantanamo Bay detention center. It's time for the US to actually charge them with a crime and bring them to the US to stand trial.

Trump was using it as an example of proper behavior and THAT is why he is and should be condemned.

His latest was to say he wished he could punch a protester in the face.Of course, I imagine the protester wished the wimp had punched him in his face. It's not like Donald Trump's fist is much of a threat and it's always sunny somewhere.

You gotta admit that it is an effective method of governing people. Andrew Jackson certainly found it worked both while as a General and later while a President. Papa Doc found it worked. Many other national leaders found it worked.Remember in the US we have a history of using such tactics whether it is Jackson defying the President and Congress and invading Florida and executing local politicians or later as President driving the Indians out of their homes and plantations in the South to MacArthur, Eisenhower and Patton driving the Bonus Army off the Mall and burning their tents and belongings. In that last event President Hoover ordered MacArthur to stop but he ignored the Commander in Chief and continued the wanton destruction even across the Anacostia River.

I'm amazed that you were not aware of the Bonus Army story; that's almost like not knowing about the Zoot Suit riots or the Pullman Strike or how the policy of using US and State military forces to breakup unions and strikes changed during the 1902 Coal Strike.The point Phat is that the US has a long history of Military disobedience of lawful commands from the Commander in Chief and of actions that certainly could be described as "Crimes Against Humanity" or as the behavior of Tyrants and Dictators.But unless our Citizens are educated and knowledgeable about past acts of our government how can the act as informed voters in this election.

Using governmental force and violence to keep the populace in line. Of police using dogs and fire hoses and beatings and tear gas and of lynchings and disappearings. Of ethnic cleansing and conquest of new territory by force and ignoring even our own treaties when it is in our interest.Unfortunately, yes, it can happen here and not just in the south.

Not just Puerto Rico, Hawaii is another great example. Florida was also an example. The Ethnic Cleansing under Andrew Jackson and his continued violation of both Treaty terms and opinions of the US Supreme Court are other clear examples.

One thing that should be important in any candidate for a position like President or Congressman or School board member would be evidence that the person is able to make decisions based on reality.If someone believes the Earth is young or that Evolution is not a fact or that Global Warming should not be addressed by reducing human contributions then it is clear that they are not capable of making decisions based on reality and so they cannot reasonably be considered for any position where decision making is a factor.

I have been struck repeatedly by the physical resemblance of Trump's facial expressions and posture compared to the films of il Duce, the same down turned pursed duck lips, nose in the air, hands on his hips; virtual twins.

I voted early and down here the lines were about equal but then this area is one that has traditionally been pretty liberal, the home of Lloyd Bentsen after all.
