Actually, Trump and Kaisich seem to be the sanest of the bunch. Cruz is crazy as can be. It really is a sad state of affairs.

I'm still hoping against hope that the Libertarian candidate will be halfway decent Don't get your hopes up. I've been hearing persistent rumors that he'll most likely be a libertarian.

Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump and Calls Marco Rubio 'Desperate' - First Draft. Political News, Now. - The New York Times
Is that some New York/New Jersey mutual affection thing or is that just Christie's final FU to the country?

In a bid to win over evangelical voters, guess which of the following Trump has pledged to do:
* Forgive his enemies.* Sell all he has and give the money to the poor. * Demonstrate a shred of contrition for being an adulterer. * Attend church. * Anything at all mentioned in the Sermon on the Mount. * Abolish the rule that makes churches' tax-exempt status contingent on them not being political organizations. You've got to hand it to the man, he knows what his audience really wants.

Yes, we'd certainly like to be freed of the prohibition on political speech, but Trump did deal us a low blow on another front when he said he wouldn't support Israel.

...unless the church wants to keep its tax-exempt status. Did I really have to add that?

Did I really have to add that? If you want to be right, then yes. C'mon, saying it's "prohibited" is like saying I'm prohibited from owning a car --- when what you mean is that I can have as many cars as I like, so long as I pay for them the same as everyone else has to. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

You do know that churches always used to be tax-exempt just because they were churches, right? And since preaching on the culture, including preaching on politics, is standard Christian work, there was never any legal problem until the 501c3 government intrusion into the business of the church was laid on it. Personally I'm with those who think the church should reject anything the government imposes on it that makes it answerable to the government in any way at all, so in this brave new pagan world that wants us to disappear I think we should just give it up completely. However, if Trump gets the Presidency and wants to remove that restriction, terrific.

And believe me, that's definitely not an endorsement for Rubio!"Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine
