Since the once "Oh No, The New Awesome Primary Thread" has been poisoned to the point of being a useless ghost of its former self let us attempt to resurrect its utility by abandoning that steaming pile of feculence to its droppings and continue the worthy original purpose of that thread in a new home.
Dr. A's OP:
quote: A worthy venture requiring resurrection. The last germane on-topic post from the sewer pit of that befouled lost thread:
quote: Let us continue our discussions here unfettered by the offal of the older abode. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

...this might foreshadow a brokered convention... And should this happen we can expect the Trump officials to issue statements saying that Trump supporters really shouldn't riot like that outside the convention hall even though mightily provoked like not having their man immediately anointed on the first ballot.

Chicago 1968 was a different scenario altogether. Richard Daley, longtime Mayor and kingpin of the corrupt democratic political machine in Cook County, was a delegate to the convention and was embarrassed that the hippies were demonstrating, peacefully, around the convention center and the Democratic Headquarters. These were, after all, commie anti-Vietnam War renegades and street thugs that had no place in despoiling his great city and his personal shining moment on national TV. Mayor Daley ordered his police to clear the demonstrators from the streets and confine them to a city park a few blocks up the street.
The police riot that ensued, and yes it was the police that erupted in violent rioting, brutally clubbing, gassing and beating the demonstrators and the media (carrying their cameras and wearing jackets and armbands reading "PRESS") and anyone else standing in the vicinity, was watched in horror all across the country in realtime. The difference with the potential action in Cleveland this summer will be that the Trump supporters, who are known, have a history, to precipitate violence at the merest suggestion from their demagogue leader (a suggestion already given) will erupt into violence if Trump is denied his shiny crown. The bad news is that the rioting in 1968 destroyed the Democratic party leading to the election of Richard Nixon. The good news is that the same could destroy the Republican party in 2016 leading to the election of anyone other than Trump or Cruz, and (we can dream) rip the Senate out of Republican hands in the meantime. Good God, I remember the Daisy Spot. The other one, Confessions of a Republican, I never saw. But the Daisy Spot ... that hit home.
I was much too young to vote but coming off the Kennedy assassination and the live murder of Oswald on TV, that Spot reinforced the fact that this was a violent and evil world I was living in. A few years later I was in Vietnam. Yeah, it all runs together. Thanks for resurrecting a nightmare.

Donald Trump writes: ...I have a very good brain.... Maybe he should use that one instead of his own. Though he carries it with him it's not where can get to it.

Keep in mind that in the House the election is done by State. Each state has only one vote. A large republican state with a large number of electors can be nullified by a small Democratic state with far fewer electors. A majority of the states chooses the president, not a majority of the members of the whole House.

Right.
Now, if the senate swings over to the democrats we could end up with a republican as President and a democrat as Vice-president.

Republican leaders and their big-league operatives across the nation met to plan an all-out fight to defeat Trump preparing a 100-day battle plan to keep Trump from the party's nomination. The New York Times is reporting the various groups plan on coordinating efforts "starting with an aggressive battle in Wisconsin’s April 5 primary and extending into the summer, with a delegate-by-delegate lobbying effort that would cast Mr. Trump as a calamitous choice for the general election." NYT is calling this "the political equivalent of guerrilla fighting."
Problem: The group can not agree on who to support. Cruz is an obvious choice but the leadership, especially from the senate side despise the man and can not, will not, work with him. Kasich does not have the conservative and party credentials the group is looking for and is seen as a light-weight in the general election. Talks continue. If this effort fails to deny Trump the nomination there is talk of a national concerted effort to launch an independent run for some main-stream traditional conservative Republican candidate (Rick Perry, Michael Bloomberg ?) as well as maybe hijacking a third party (Libertarians do not select their candidate until late May) to get a traditional Republican on the ballot nationally. This is the sound of the Republican Party fracturing. That big gaping hole that so many feared would develop in the party has now split wide open and that split is not just in the leadership but cuts right through the grass-roots heart of the party. How many of the big Republican elite will remain with the GOP while the rest of traditional republicanism strikes out for some third party bid remains to be seen but what used to be the Republican party will not recover from this for many years to come. I hope you realize Blue Jay had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek when he wrote that.
Or did he?

Hey, folks, I have a request.
While the actions and history of the candidates, who’s a criminal, who’s a jerk and the like (and even what constitutes such characterizations) are quite appropriate topics in this thread, the ever on-going squabble this discussion has devolved into is not. This has gone full circle twice that I can count. Opinions have been expressed, challenged and responded. Evidence has been presented, challenged and responded. Multiple times. If you are compelled to go on yet another set of cycles then please take it to a different thread. The Wisconsin primaries are coming up Tuesday next. There is a concerted effort by a large group of Republican insiders attempting to derail the Trump juggernaut in Wisconsin and the level of success they have (or not) will be vital to the remainder of the Republican primary season and the resultant nomination. I do not want the results lost in the detritus of this level of discussion. Thus my request. Please take your fucking war crimes and your fucking dueling dictionaries and get the hell off my thread! Much appreciated. Thank you.
