Theoretically, when we look out there through a telescope, we are looking back through time. Is it possible (though not likely) that what we see through that lens is all entirely in the past and that the stars could now have disappeared?

One would think so, if all of the data is correct. Also, I would be interested in your answer to the hypothetical question that i asked starlite. I think so. Bigger stars explode for some reason. I'll have to google it to find out why. Basically I always just assumed that some stars exploded and other stars imploded causing black holes.

As a believer, I will state that God knows. Were i a science teacher, this answer would be insufficient for educating my class, however. Why not ask me some questions? Pretend that you are my teacher.

Keep in mind, however that starlite believes that God is actual evidence. I believe that through Him all things were created. Thus I agree with starlite in that regard. I think.

To be fair, however...a critic could ask you to prove that Jesus created all seen and unseen. How would you prove that?
