Closing threads
Time to go back to closing threads when they get too long and too pedantic.

Thread derailed and beaten into the ground
The "Observational science" thread has been totally derailed and beaten into the ground. And still they continue!
EvC Forum: SCIENCE: -- "observational science" vs "historical science" vs ... science.
Time to lock the stupid thing!
Incessant arguing over minutiae is not entertaining or productive, nor does it generally attract participants or lurkers.
The old idea of locking threads after 300 posts is looking better and better all the time.
Lock that sucker! Put it out of its misery.

This site has devolved.
Too much politics, not enough CvE.

Absurdities
I recommend you don't promote "The Absurdities of the Geologic Time Scale."
We get way too much time-wasting anti-science nonsense from Faith as it is.
(Although she certainly is an expert on absurdities.)

Grump, grump
The more this site becomes a political site via the Coffee House, and the less it is a EvC as intended, the less interest it has for me.

Regarding the We Have the Fossils thread.
How can you have any kind of reasonable discussion with someone who refuses to accept evidence that contradicts their belief?
Many of us have presented well-supported evidence, for a number of years, in a large number of threads. We have been told, in essence, that our evidence is crap because the bible is TRVTH.
That's no way to participate in a discussion forum. It just leads to frustration.
I posted the "I almost fell off my unicorn" image to that thread as the only sensible response, as posting evidence has been futile--a total waste of time.

Requested features
Two features that may be useful for this board are the ability to totally block posts from a particular poster, or to selectively block a particular thread--to make either of them "as if they never happened."
I can think of some practical applications for these features...

Free Faith...
Please ubsuspend Faith.
Yes, she's a biblical literalist and creationist, but she is OUR biblical literalist and creationist.
Yes, she is consistently wrong, and incapable of learning from our posts, but she isn't going to change for evidence, reason, logic, or any thing else.
But I've grown used to her, and even to like her. This place wouldn't be the same without her.
(I see I have typos. Power is out and this in from an IPad and I don't know how to go back
And correct them. Apologies.)

Re: Free Faith
I agree.
Faith may be totally impervious to reason and logic, but I consider her a dues-paid member in good standing here and would not like to see her suspended a month.
Three days, with credit for time served, should be enough.
