Yup, us wackos and bigots see some heavy stuff coming
That IS an article from Scientific American, which is probably not just getting around to noticing the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It's about a "superbug," something they consider to be more threatening than the usual.
What with Ebola and Zika and now this, and maybe we should even go back to AIDS to round out our collection of new horrific diseases, we Bible believers have reason to think Jesus' predictions about the Last Days before His return (Luke 21) are well underway. These diseases would fulfill the prediction of increase in "pestilences" He mentioned.
We've also seen some devastating earthquakes around the world in recent years, which He also mentioned. I haven't compared their frequency to former spates of earthquakes but subjectively they seem to be getting bigger and closer together.
Let's see, what else. Well there are plenty of false Christs but most of those have been around for a couple of centuries, I don't know of any really new ones. Persecution of Christians? Going on everywhere. Email today about a woman in India who recently lost her job because of her Christian faith, yesterday heard an interview with an American man who lost his job with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for offering a co-worker the loan of a DVD about Intelligent Design; I get periodic reports and pictures from an Indian pastor who is daily in danger of his life from the Hindus and Muslims. Like Paul the Apostle in his time.
Wars and rumors of wars? Also lots of those for a long time. But the pestilences are new and possibly the rate and severity of earthquakes.
I guess this confirms my standing at EvC as a certified wacko and bigot too. Especially if I add that I too think Gay Marriage may be the last nail in America's coffin.
From his nom de plume I gather LamarkNewAge wouldn't be open to the recommendation of a return to Biblical Christianity to save the nation, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't, along with the majority here. We Christians keep praying though, hoping against hope to stave off the inevitable for at least a while.

Perhaps you remember my answer to this, perhaps not.
When we were still basically a Christian nation God blessed us with all kinds of medical discoveries and other benefits. Now that we've been sliding for a few decades into paganism and opposing His Law, we are under judgment. It could be just a local judgment but it seems to be worldwide. But it IS judgment and unless we reverse course even you aren't going to like the result.

Re: Yup, us wackos and bigots see some heavy stuff coming
I just explained to you how we've 'never had it so good' and you totally ignore the evidence of modern medicine which is STILL IMPROVING.
Yes, which shows God's blessings haven't run out, thanks to our Christian past. It's like a bank in a way, we built up a good account with God and it's still earning interest. So I say thank You God, and I hope it continues. But I'm also aware of the contrary influences we've been under for half a century or more, and that's a drain on our bank account. How far along we are to losing our blessings I don't know, but I know we're already under judgment and it's growing. I know this from the Bible, and I understand that you aren't in a position to take it seriously because you don't believe it.
Your last end times predictor was AIDS, but somehow mankind managed to evade god's wrath by finding drugs, education and practices that control it.
Yes, thank You Lord. AIDS wasn't my "last" I merely added it to the new list of scary diseases because it falls within the recent time frame. And the proper answer to anything that controls it is gratitude to God and the hope that it won't get worse. However, it's still a growing disease in some places even in America.
So that is conveniently forgotten and you think of something else that might be a helpful indicator.
Judgment is scary. Makes the bottom drop out of your stomach if you consider it as a reality. Like LamarkNewAge said, makes you feel sick. Anything that holds it back is welcome. Christians pray it will be held back after all, as I said. Nobody wants judgment. I hope and pray for revival so that God would bless us again.
What are you going to do when gene therapy starts becoming routine and some of god's world's worst inventions are eradicated or curable?
Thank God for them, what else? But it's our sins that bring down His judgment on us, and we can reverse it by returning to Him. It's all our choice.
"Current and possible candidates for gene therapy include cancer, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease), cardiovascular disease and arthritis. In cases such as cystic fibrosis or hemophilia, disease results from a mutation in a single gene."
I hope the blessings continue, as I said.

Re: Yup, us wackos and bigots see some heavy stuff coming
I know LNA's style leaves something to be desired, but since the information came from Scientific American I figured there is reason to take it seriously as a NEW disease problem and not just the usual antibiotic-resistant disease problem.
As for the ID, it's interesting to hear you've been that involved in such things, but the interview with the JPL person was by my local Christian radio interviewer who interviews all kinds of Christians and there was nothing particularly ID-oriented about it. He lost his job because offering to lend a DVD on ID was called "religious harassment." He claims he merely offered it as a friend, no harassment involved, had done so with many other co-workers without incident. I don't take any of this as an ID issue.
My post was just an attempt to show that Jesus' end-time predictions seem to be coming true lately. And of course I love the Bible as God's true and merciful, good and kind word and trust it with my life, and it makes me sad when people hate it and hate this loving God, but I understand it since I too was once an atheist.

It's rather that you have BECOME PC with that statement, since hating God has become extremely popular in recent years, THE reason we ARE under His judgment.

What's so hard to understand about Good stuff is God's blessings, Bad stuff is His displeasure? Both can go on at the same time, obviously.

"Being religious" isn't how you get God's blessings. There are plenty of nonChristians who intuitively obey God's Law. But if you are thinking of FORMERLY Christian nations that have become paganized just as we have, then their blessings are continuing even while they are probably accumulating judgment.
