Faith writes:
Wars and rumors of wars? Also lots of those for a long time. But the pestilences are new and possibly the rate and severity of earthquakes.
Utter and complete nonsense and just another clear example of the utter ignorance found in the USA today. None of the things you called pestilences rose to the significance of almost all diseases in the past. Are you not aware of the pandemics of the early 1900s? Or the Black Death that swept across the known world in 14 hundreds? How about Justinian's Plague? How about Smallpox and Cholera and tuberculosis and polio and leprosy and malaria and The Spanish Disease?
And there is no such thing as Biblical Christianity and never has been. The whole purpose of the Freedom of Religion clause was to prevent any one of the dozens of different "Biblical Christianity" groups, particularly the wacko Puritans from gaining power.
Come on Faith.
Faith writes:
From his nom de plume I gather LamarkNewAge wouldn't be open to the recommendation of a return to Biblical Christianity to save the nation, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't, along with the majority here. We Christians keep praying though, hoping against hope to stave off the inevitable for at least a while.
Just as the ignorant folk in past plagues called on a return to "The Faith" and used the sickness as yet another reason to expel Jews, Muslims, Witches, Gypsies and all the other "undesireables".
Little has changed Faith, Ignorance and bigotry wakos are in vogue and fashion today too.
But the news is simply not news except to those who have been willfully ignorant.
Antibiotic resistant strains of almost ever known virus have been with us for ages and the problem has been openly discussed for many many decades. In particular resistant TB has become a major concern.
And the answer is still not some imaginary return to the imaginary human creation marketed as "Biblical Christianity" but rather education, and a constant battle against ignorance.
Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
