Men rarely (if ever) manage to dream up a God superior to themselves. Most Gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child.
Robert A. Heinlein
I agree with the tail end of that description of the old gods and would add immoral to the comment.
I do not agree that men cannot dream up better laws and rules as compared to the old gods.
Just look at secular laws of today and it is quite clear that we have done better on that score than the old gods.

Not quite. They worship supernatural gods and most of us who create our own natural version of god do not worship what we create in ourselves.
The Gnostic Christian way is that even after suffering apotheosis, we set aside that god, raise the bar of excellence and seek anew.
I advocate allowing all gods, supernatural or not, to continue to evolve their thinking so as not to become idol worshipers and allow our thinking to stagnate.

I have no problem with what admin did as we, I hope, are allowed to bring anything to the board that pertains to the issues at hand.
He was clear and honest as to where the material came from and other sites allow their admins to post and debate.
We often quote from many source and I just see that as another source.
We should allow ourselves to bring wisdom found anywhere as well as what some would not call wise.

God created the world you live in, the air you breathe--indeed the very universe that contains us..long before you were even able to make Him up.
Yes, and he also created the banana to fit exactly in our hand with a tab at the top to open it like a can of coke, and curved towards our mouth.
You either believe that or you grow up. In the mean time, the rest of us are moving on. Sorry to be so blunt, Phat, but with the world in its current state I am quickly losing patience with religious people. Religion, faith, superstition and all the other God-nonsense are doing such a tremendous amount of harm to humanity, it is unimaginable. How do you not kill yourself every day for shame of what atrocities are committed on a daily basis in the name of one or another god? Maybe your god does not condone violence in his name, but then he might be against, say, stem cell research for some ridiculous reason. Humanity has enough problems as it is, with diseases, global warming and what not. We do not need additional religiously inspired misery. You need to grow up, humanity needs to grow up.
GROW UP!
(Phew, I needed to get that off my chest.)

You compare a false god invented by Satan that goes around Europe these days murdering people as infidels, with the true God that opposes a research that exploits the murder of babies? That's a "ridiculous reason?" Where is your head?
Unfortunately (poor Europe) the reason you have Islamists murdering Europeans is that you've abandoned the true religion of the God who opposes murdering babies. It's also the reason you have all the general problems you are talking about. Long as you confuse Satan's religions with the true God you're going to make it all worse

Re: Growing pains
Faith,
1. A stem cell taken from a blastula, from amniotic fluid, or from bone marrow, is not a baby.
2. Your true God allows 30 to 50% of all fertilizations to spontaneously end in a miscarriage. He is therefore the greatest abortionist of them all.
3. So you think your true God sends Islamic terrorists to Europe to punish us for abortions? Thank you for proving me right.
Grow up, Faith.

Sure it is, it's a baby the same way a twelve week or twenty-week fetus is a baby, the same way a toddler is an adult human being.

Re: Growing pains
Abortions are only a small part of it. The problem is that Europe gave up on the true God who in fact made Europe great (I speak mostly of course of God after the Protestant Reformation). God doesn't have to "send" the Islamists, their diabolical religion has them eager to do the work, He's just withdrawn His protection from Europe. If it's any consolation God will punish them very harshly for what they are doing. Meanwhile it would help to learn that when you give up on truth it gives up on you.

Seriously?! God changed because of the reformation? Hahaha! What a wussy.

Well, not really. If you believe prayer will heal your cancer, and you forego medical treatment, the truth is you will probably die.
