Read the Constitution. Majority rules. Democracy or not.
Lincoln was himself reluctant to force the pro-slavery South to give it up even though he disagreed with it, because he believed in their right to govern themselves. He thought it required diplomacy and time to bring them around. Apparently the war allowed him to force it on them. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

The Supreme Court is always redefining the Constitution. They certainly can't be trusted to interpret it.

The checks and balancers are intended to control the GOVERNING INSTITUTIONS that tend to usurp power over each other and over the people, not the people themselves. The Supreme Court has been usurping power over both the other branches of government and over the people for at least a century now.
It's not that there was no intent to keep majority rule within bounds too, but not to the extent we are seeing today and that you are apparently ap0proving. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

When they make an extreme minority "a little more free" against the will of the majority they are indeed usurping power over the people.

The majority of the people have NOT supported gay marriage at all. The court has been bullying them.

"...a little more free" is a gross misrepresentation of extending marriage to couples who have no qualifications for marriage whatever.

Funny, I have no problem affirming both: majority rules but not utterly without restraint. Kind of obvious wouldn't you think?

She got the job when she was not required to sign off on gay marriage licenses. I think it was even an elected position, wasn't it? She was well suited to its requirements and did a lot to improve the office according to her election promises. She had been a Christian for a few years when the gay marriage law came along, until which point there was no problem with her practicing her religion and holding that job, as in America there never should be. Seems rather nasty for the law to change things in a way that jeopardized her position in the middle of her holding it.
So changing the law that required her to sign off on gay marriage licenses seems like a fair enough compromise under the circumstances, but of course in a conflict between Christian faith and sin elevated to a right I'd much rather it was her faith that was protected as it always used to be. But we're headed for the Grand Finale so let it all hang out, hey? Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

She refused because her name had to be on the licenses. When the new law removed that requirement the deputies could issue the licenses.
I'm sure the deputies could have refused on their consciences too but apparently it wasn't a problem for them. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

The percentage of those who accept is higher now than it was a few years ago. When the law came down forcing it on the nation a majority did not accept it.

And you think it's just fine that she was forced to accept a law against her conscience that was enacted after she had been in her position for a number of years? Certainly the world is going to do what it can to put Christians in this sort of position, it's a form of persecution. And we're going to have to live with it because more is coming. But there's something wrong with your attituder about it. Oh, but you aren't a Christian any more are you.

She became a Christian after her divorces. Jesus saves sinners, remember? If she divorced now you could accuse her of hypocrisy; but otherwise you are just pulling the usual false anti-Christian fingerpointing.
ABE: Oh and by the way a while back you accused me of denying the scripture about women's headcovering. Why I don't know, something you assumed without knowledge. I've had a blog up on the subject for nine years arguing that we should cover our heads in church. So much for your honesty and fairness. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Sure, why not? And let's bring in the Hindu practice of burning the wife when her husband dies too. And while we're at it let's sacrifice our babies to Molech -- oh I forgot, we're already doing that, only his name is Planned Parenthood.
Also please read the part of my post about the woman's headcovering.

Right, what used to be the moral backbone of the nation is now " religious bigotry." Word magic is powerful. it's OK now to marry people who have no natural reason to marry, against the cultural and religious standards that every nation accepted until recently, and it's OK to kill babies in the millions, because that's what our progressive nation now prefers to the Christianity that built it. Fine, that's the way things are going. I guess more of us will be sitting in jail as time goes by. That should make you happy.

Yes I also believe women aren't to speak in church.
