Re: Feeling Post Election Trauma
... I have not detected a single person in this newsgroup who fails to acknowledge that Trump won the election. ...
It is America's loss, but that was put in motion in July.
... Trump won fair and square. ...
No. He won because the system is rigged. Because of suppression of minority and liberal votes in republican states. Because of hacked voting machines. Because of election fraud. This has been going on since 2002.
North Carolina no longer ranks as a democracy, and the US federal election process is coming in a close 2nd.
Just to set the record straight.

What did you grieve?
Still want to know what you grieved for in the previous elections.
Message 770: Probably true Faith. What did you grieve about Faith? The loss of democracy? How universal was it?
Our democracy has been under attack for decades (certainly since the Clinton Reagan years)
I think there are several things we will agree on.

Re: Feeling Post Election Trauma
Unless you can back this stuff up with evidence, ...
See Election Rigging.
... The other side claims that millions of illegal immigrants voted in California with a similar lack of evidence. ...
Sorry, not an equivalent claim. That is voter fraud and not election fraud. The level of voter fraud has been investigated and documented and it has been shown to be a red-herring argument by the GOP to hide their election frauds.
... Beyond that, most folks who believe neither claim has any basis in reality see plenty of reasons to be disgusted at the election results ...
So we should ALL be interested in revising the system to that we can trust the result. This was Jill Stein's main reason for insisting on the recounts -- to show that our system is broken and unreliable, that it is too susceptible to tinkering by any party in control of the machines.
The primary system appeared to be rigged against Trump during his campaign. ...
I did not see much of that, but then I didn't pay much attention to them. I DID see the primary system wasrigged against Bernie in the primaries, by the methods listed in Election Rigging, and I did see massive bias in the media.
... Many folks thought that the electoral system and the democratic leaning states were an insurmountable obstacle for Trump. ...
Mostly media pundits living in the Hillary bubble that thought she was the best thing since sliced bread.
... It is almost laughable how quickly that idea disappeared. ...
Reality is a harsh mistress.
... Most folks now say that the electoral college is a Republican advantage.
Because electors are voted on in the same districts as are gerrymandered for the House of Representatives?
Yeah, it does suck here. No question about that.
We can expect that disease to spread.

Russians Hacked Trump and the RNC too
They just kept that to themselves so they could use it to make Trump dance to their tunes. You've probably seen some of he news items online ... here's a couple:
quote:
Intelligence report: Russia hacked the RNC, may have dirt on Trump
In a pair of political bombshells, the US intelligence community announced that not only did Russian spies likely hack the Republican party alongside the DNC, but that the President-elect's campaign team maintained routine contact with Russian operatives throughout the election cycle. Not only that, US intelligence has alleged that Russia may have compromising personal or financial information about Donald Trump, which could be used to blackmail the next President and directly influence his actions in office.
The first announcement involves classified briefings presented to both President Obama and Donald Trump that allege Russians have compromising information on the PEOTUS. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers all signed off on the two-page synopsis.
The synopsis also alleges that Russian intermediaries and members of the Trump campaign colluded to share information throughout the election. According to the report, the disclosure of this classified information to congressional members prompted Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid to write FBI Director Comey in October and insist that, "It has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government -- a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States."
quote:
British Intel: Russia Blackmailing Trump With Video Of Him Paying Prostitutes For Golden Showers
A confidential dossier released by BuzzFeed news that is unconfirmed but is credible enough to be presented to President Obama alleges that the Russian Federal Security Service has video evidence of Donald Trump engaging in perverted sex parties that include hiring prostitutes to urinate in front of him on the bed that President Obama and his wife shared at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton.
... this certainly would explain how the Russian government would be able to blackmail Donald Trump into doing whatever they wanted — and all of Donald Trump’s actions up to this point indicate that he has been operating in service of Vladimir Putin.
That adds a golden touch to his visits to Russia.

Re: Russians Hacked Trump and the RNC too
I want to stress that the information is unconfirmed at this time.

SNOPES: Memos leaked to the media claiming that Trump was blackmailed by Russian operatives are not verified.
While the news was being reported as "breaking," the information had actually been explored in depth in a 31 October 2016 article by Mother Jones. Unlike Mother Jones, however, on 10 January 2016, Buzzfeed published the document in full:
A dossier making explosive but unverified allegations that the Russian government has been cultivating, supporting and assisting President-elect Donald Trump for years and gained compromising information about him has been circulating among elected officials, intelligence agents, and journalists for weeks.
The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians. CNN reported Tuesday that a two-page synopsis of the report was given to President Barack Obama and Trump.
Now BuzzFeed News is publishing the full document so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government.
The 36-page document's most discussed claim may be that the Russian government possesses a video of Trump engaging in an orgy with prostitutes who perform a "golden shower," or urinate on each other in an effort to defile a bed once slept on by the Obamas because (according to the report) Trump "hated" them.
It also claims that the regime of Russian president Vladimir Putin has been actively "cultivating, assisting and supporting" Trump for five years:

I think a lot of votes were lost to democrats and Clinton because of identity politics.
When the main emphasis is on what bathroom someone uses and which of 97 different genders they are, while fundamental issues such as jobs and economics are given little attention, a lot of working people will look for better alternatives.
The east/west coast vs. heartland divide seems to reflect this pretty clearly.

The Clinton campaign was "Vote for me or you will get Trump" and the working people looked at Clinton and said "nothing for me there, might as well be Trump" ... Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania.

Correct. It was vote for a known quantity vs. hope and change! lol
Except that Trump was not a known quantity by any possible metric, and Hillary was for maintaining the status quo.
Hope and change was killed by 6 years of toxic republican obstruction to anything Obama. In the first 2 years we got the ACA passed, then the do nothing GOP stopped government.
Now they are the "undo anything Obama" government, and have not done anything to move this country forward (they never will either).
