From over in the Marketing of Christianity thread, our resident master of the typo/bizarre spellings writes:
compromising Christians need a place to console their quilt
Is that why they're called "comforters" in the States ?

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Following my previous post, I got a bit creative:
To the tune of A Bag of Weed from Family Guy
Now everybody gather round and listen if you could,
When I tell you there are people here obsessed with Yahweh's wood,
Every thread they fill, every post they pen, eventually you'll find,
References to the dangly bits, of a supernatural kind
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 !
The letter U
The letter U
Penus is spelled better with the letter U
When you got no science
No, not even woo,
Well penus is spelled better with the letter U
When evolution's being discussed, they'll claim it's racist talk,
When holes are drilled in Noah's Ark, they'll say if floats like cork,
When faced with science, they deny it all, with numerology,
But no matter what, they'll come around, to the word that starts with P !
1 2 3 !
The letter U
The letter U
Penus is spelled better with the letter U
When you got no science
No, not even woo,
Well penus is spelled better with the letter U

LOL! I had to look this up to make sure it wasn't a spoof and found that it's for real.

Well, I am trying to wean myself from stoly (which I keep in the freezer), but am having trouble finding an adequate replacement.
(even though it too is made in the us under license ... like Guinness Stout ...)
Sigh

we are limited in our ability to understand
by our ability to understand

... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ...
to share.

This is relevant today. (I went to high school in Belleville, IL... and we've been chatty about this shooting)
Here is a link to a Daily Show clip from 2015:
http://www.cc.com/...r-not-to-shoot---fear-and-absent-danger
Although somber, it is quite funny. And this is a humor thread. And I turn to humor as a coping mechanism.
I thought I'd share it here because we talk about gun violence, and left vs right, and all the shit in between.
In this case it was a leftist that fucked up, and I'm a little on the right.
It was also an example of Defensive Gun Use that I've argued for here.
So, I offer a hilarious leftist, Jon Stewart, as a voice of reason:
"I can't believe we have to reiterate this: It is not okay to shoot other people because you are offended by what they draw. Even if they drew it to offend you... no shooting of them.
...
You cannot shoot people because you don't share their opinion. You cannot shoot people even if they offend you."
The clip is 10 minutes long and I thought it was quite humorous all the way to the end.
I hope you watch it & like it and laugh,
-

The Glastonbury Festival: enjoyed by tens of thousands eco warriors, environmentalists and anti fracking demonstrators, joining together to save the planet:

Joke sails over Trumps head
Buzz Aldrin's Toy Story Joke Hilariously Soars Over Trump's Head

Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul

Re: Joke sails over Trumps head
It's amazing on just how many people give Trump "That Look" when trump is speaking.
