Last night's local news reported on the scientific medical discovery that people who drink three or four cups of coffee a day have a 17% lower risk of dying.

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR TEEN ABOUT COLLUDING WITH RUSSIA
Unfortunately for parents, a teen’s natural tendency to test the limits of independence can often manifest itself in his or her exchanging sensitive information with Russian emissaries for material or other rewards

Congressman Rohrabacher asks if there were civilizations thousands of years ago on Mars.
And people have repeatedly voted for Putin's favorite Congressman.

Have we really reached a low where a Mercedes owner cannot remember to plug his car in when it is not on the road? Well, they stopped bothering to connect the indicator controls to the lights on BMW's years ago, on the basis it was a waste of perfectly good electrical wire.Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

quote: Well, you're talking about people who buy a Mercedes. But while induction charging is an interesting idea (it would help save cords running around the garage that can be damaged or be a hazard), it makes me wonder about other benefits of an electric-car society. That is, in places that have started up large solar systems, you have a problem of where to store the electricity generated during the day that isn't used. And if you have an electric car, you have a battery that can store some of it. One proposal is that you take your car to work and plug it in and it becomes a general receptacle for the electricity generated during the day. Then, when you take it home at night and plug it in, it becomes a source of power for your home at night. By having a large number of electric vehicles in play, you can help manage the electric grid by using them to store power and manage capacity. I'm not sure how inductive powering would help. My physics is failing me at the moment, but I don't think that inductive charging is as efficient (it's slower, I do know that) and to reverse the flow would require using the energy stored in the car to run the coil to transfer the energy back to the grid. It's an interesting idea and there's no reason not to do it as a feature, but there should still be the cord for other uses. Yeah...that wasn't that funny.Rrhain Thank you for your submission to Science. Your paper was reviewed by a jury of seventh graders so that they could look for balance and to allow them to make up their own minds. We are sorry to say that they found your paper "bogus," specifically describing the section on the laboratory work "boring." We regret that we will be unable to publish your work at this time. Minds are like parachutes. Just because you've lost yours doesn't mean you can use mine.
