The ability to believe in the biblical God is the result of regeneration so it IS relevant.
Again, you're the poster child for not knowing what you're talking about, so that statement is pretty well worthless. You're living proof of non-regeneration.

Fat people shouldn't have their feelings hurt if somebody notices that they're fat. But keep up the hubris. You're making my point.

If you check your facts you'll find that Faith has been hostile toward me - and almost everybody else on this forum - and you'll find that my response to her is usually pretty civil in comparison.

How would you suggest one go about proving the existence of invisible beings? Actually I'm sure you have a few watching you this very minute but they wouldn't want to blow their cover with you since it benefits them not to be believed in.
I can only guess that you're talking about demons. Of course it would also apply to your God. How does it benefit Him to not be believed in?

That lots of intelligent sane people describe them to you really ought to count as a good enough reason to think there might be something to it....
No, that isn't how the brain works. It is possible to be intelligent and sane in some parts of your brain while holding silly thoughts in another part. What distinguishes blind believers is their inability to assess their own thoughts for silliness.
There's a good reason why we often ask each other, "Did you see that?" Our social connections help us to filter out the individual silliness.

There is no such thing as a "Christian Cult of Ignorance and Dishonesty".
Members of a cult never know they're in a cult. They just think they have The Truth.

To assert that early Christianity was a cheap marketing gimmick only holds water as a baldfaced assertion without evidence. There is no evidence that anyone was selling anything.
You keep misunderstanding what "marketing" means. It isn't necessarily a cash transaction. Evangelism is inherently a form of marketing.

Re: heretics
Faith writes:
I can't even figure out how anyone calls mainstream Protestant traditional Christianity a "cult."
I have said somewhere else what I consider a cult to be: a group that considers itself (its leaders) the authority on everything, that discourages its members from looking/learning outside the group, that cites "authorities" rather than evidence. You certainly fit that description, as do the Moonies, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.
Faith writes:
The list of well known Christians in Message 777....
I have pointed out to you before that you have cited Catholics as authorities. Do you relly want that list scrutinized? I suspect we would find people on it who disagree with you.

By your standard there could never be a body of doctrine that wasn't a cult.
Bingo.
Note that Judaism doesn't have a solid body of doctrine; everything is open to interpretation. Note how Jesus reinterpreted the Pharisees' interpretation.
Similarly, the "liberal" Christianity that you spit on is somewhat flexible in its interpretation - i.e. more Christ-like.

There's a difference between a coherent body of doctrine and a fixed, dogmatic one. A cult protects its doctrine from reality.

You are the one inventing a "fixed dogmatic" doctrine, not I.
On the contrary, you're the one who insists that all truth comes from the Bible - but not from what the Bible actually says, only what your "orthodox authorities" say it says. To me that describes a cult.
