..have bladders.
No other birds have bladders 'cos if you fly you don't want to carry a bottle of heavy liquid around. But if you don't..... God is damn clever. So what about emus?

I'm seeing contradictory evidence too.
My preconception is that ostriches evolved from flighted birds so I'd expect them to have the same urinary structures. The development of a bladder and all the mechanisms that go with it is non-trivial - so if true, it's rather amazing.
However, birds descended from reptiles and apparently some reptiles do have bladders so maybe the answer is parallel development.
