Well, the only reason I bother with the internet is to interact with "opposing points of view". It would be a shame if you weren't around any more.

You can argue all you like, that isn't going to change how supporters of Trump see him.

That's probably true. Trump's approval ratings, although the lowest of any US President since such a thing began to be measure in the 1930s, has gone up a little and down a little but overall has remained remarkably steady.

That suggests that although Trump supporters are a minority, they're a hardcore fantatical group and probably aren't going to change their minds. Probably not even if Trump were to walk into their own homes and shoot their own children in front of them.

Maybe. But I haven't really come across any right wingers who seem to be interested in narrowing any "political chasm". A lot are just screaming, "Listen to me yell, and agree with everything I say!"

Are you saying that it's paranoid to think that Trump would advocate a policy of removing children from their parents and holding them in internment centers?

Or just that it's paranoid to suggest that Trump would do it himself, personally?

The modern conservative, especially the tea party or Trump conservative, isn't a true conservative (and certainly not a Reagan conservative).

The reason I sometimes put "conservative" in quote marks when I speak about the US Know Nothing (LIterally) Party is because, indeed, they aren't really conservatives in any real sense.

Look it up: conservative is a relatively well-defined ideology (well, actually a family of closely related ideologies). Not only do contemporary American "conservatives" not fit any of these definitions, they don't even have a coherent ideology at all.

They are all just a bunch of angry white people screaming about stuff they don't like.
