That's about it. It would be a waste of time even if it resulted in a no cofidence outcome, but it won't, it's defeated before it starts. The conservatives aren't going to vote against their party.
Corbyn is a disingenous twat - he's refusing to tell the electorate where he stands. That's very damaging for him but he's buggered either way because everyone knows he wants out.

Re: May's government survives no confidence vote
It looks like a remain majority but not by much and there's an increasing amount of confusion causing an increase in 'don't know' so it would still be touch and go.

Re: May's government survives no confidence vote
Percy - I've lost a post somewhere, I've looked behind the sofa but can't find it - weird.
In summary it said that for two years the general vote didn't change much from the initial vote. There's some indications that it may now be changing. If it settles at 10+% for a while in favour of remain I think they'll find their reason for another vote.
It also said that our exPrimeminister is a screaming idiot to ask stupid people a difficult question and I doubt you'd find many on the remain side that disagrees.

Queenie has decided to say something...to the Women's Institute!
quote:
The Queen has called for “common ground” and “never losing sight of the bigger picture” in a speech to mark the centenary of the Sandringham Women’s Institute (WI), which is likely to be interpreted as a veiled reference to the toxic debate around Brexit.
She spoke of the virtues of “respecting” the other person’s point of view, as parliament remains deeply divided over the issue of Britain leaving the EU.

If I was the EU, I'd be doing everything I could to create an environment for a referrendum. That means give nothing - they know 'no deal' is impossible, except by accident.

We just need to revoke and it's like nothing happened.
Personally I'm for that, but if people are insistent on leaving I want the whole hog; totally gone - no deal, start again from scratch. We deal with the initial chaos - inflation, shortages, jams, currency falls, unemployment and re-build as a giant Singapore and fuck the EU up the arse. It'll take two generations.
And all the C2, D Brexiters and pensioners will personally suffer, because they'll be at the coal face but that's what the idiots wanted right?

Without the EU you are a door to nowhere. Its the french that will have to expand their docks to compensate now.
The French are so bogged down in antique unionised working practices, agricultural subsidies and employment restrictions that they couldn't find their arses with the help of two teams of grape pickers.
We'd run rings round them by slashing taxes, slashing welfare ignoring EU regulation on tax incentives and run up the pirate flag.
Well a boy can dream.

Nice thought but you will loose business going out of the EU, so you will either have to borrow lots of money or raise taxes to compensate for tax revenue.
Oh it'll fuck manufacturing but we've got sod all of that left that matters and the bits that do matter we won't lose because we do it and others can't - for a while at least.
We make up for it by slashing corporation tax and giving massive tax incentives for inward investment. We drop huge chunks of financial regulation and let the bankers, hedge funds and those demonic globalists off the leash.
ya even if you do welfare expenditures will increase because of the lost jobs from failed businesses.
Nope, the jobless will be working in the fields because while there are jobs available there - which there will be because the Eastern Europeans will not be allowed in to pick our cauliflowers and plums - social security payments will not be made to those that can work. We're all fascist now remember. And we're digging for victory.

Re: May's Plan B
The 'accidental' no deal is a also reasonable possibility. Just because parliament voted against no-deal doesn't mean it won't happen. If they don't agree a deal or an extension, no-deal happens on 29th March.

Re: Another Referendum
Percy writes:
Having another referendum wasn't mentioned in the last couple pages of posts, that I noticed. A week ago that was being mentioned as a possibility. Is this no longer true?
Depends.
If the EU give way and find a way to solve the Irish border problem, we'll get a deal.
If they hold tight, there's the possibility we'll automatically crash out on 29th March. But there's also the possibility that because Parliament say they won't allow that, that the only way to resolve the issue is to ask us whether we want the deal, no deal or stay in.
I think that's what the EU are shooting for - me too. It's not that high a possibility.

Re: Another Referendum
The most likely is a short extension - but that doesn't solve anything except allow a little more time for UK law to change to deal with a hard exit.
Words and waffle from the EU about intentions won't change anything in Parliament unless they have the force of law behind them. Unless, of course, Parliament simply caves in to Europe. It's a game of chicken.
