Re: Notre Dame
They'll build it back, 70 years ago Dresden was almost wiped from the face of the Earth and the Germans built it back. I know that is little consolation to what happened to Notre Dam but at least the complete structure did not collapse and there is something to build.

Re: Notre Dame
Agreed. One can only hope the worker is a gormless imbecile. The thought of being fully cognizant of ones actions of burning down Notre Dam would be unbearable.

Another theory nobody wants to touch with a hundred foot pole
Hundreds of churches vandalized in Europe recently, two a day in France. Notre Dame has been targeted before.

Re: Another theory nobody wants to touch with a hundred foot pole
It’s the same with mosques - On average, 9 mosques have been targeted every month this year - CNN - there are a lot of nasty people out there.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: Another theory nobody wants to touch with a hundred foot pole
I suppose it could have been deliberate. God knows that there are plenty of reasons to be disgruntled with the Catholics but Notre Dame is not one of them. If it was deliberate we can be sure that a religious zealot was involved.

Re: Notre Dame
They'll build it back,
I had the same thought and it is not a total loss but tragic nonetheless. Kind of like that Greek dudes ship with the repaired planks and nothing is really what it was yesterday anyway except maybe things like an indomitable spirit.

Interesting the mosques are in the US, but not Europe?

Re: Another theory nobody wants to touch with a hundred foot pole
That was the first info I googled - there’s lots of additional info. We get churches, mosques, temples, all sorts attacked and vandalised by morons in this country too.

As a kid born just north of Boston in 1962, John Havlicek was the personification of basketball.
