The phrase "one another" refers to the disciples. Jesus addresses that group in particular to love one another, although He also affirms loving one's neighbor. We are to love both but there is a special way we are to love the brethren, and being a little too ready to pounce and condemn a sister in Christ is a violation of that commandment.

Context is a big stumbling block for nonbelievers. Feeding the thousands was a miracle Jesus did twice. He did miracles to validate His identity and draw people to Him. I think it important to explicitly note what Trump was really doing. He wasn't attempting to address problems and issues surrounding immigration. He was attempting to get sanctuary cities to knuckle under by threatening to overwhelm their social and economic resources.If it takes shared national sacrifice to solve the immigration problem then so be it, but that is unlikely because immigration enriches a country, especially by the 2nd and 3rd generations. A steady flow of immigrants (i.e., a healthy and sustained immigration pipeline) is necessary to a country's success. I'm not sure what Marc was trying to say here, or why he was trying to say it. That both North and South were racist before, during and after the Civil War is not in doubt, but it was only the South that insisted on maintaining slavery, and only the South that after the war did all they could to keep blacks enslaved (in effect if not in reality) to the extent possible.--Percy

There's nothing in the context that suggests He did it to show off His magical powers. And the only difference was that the Church didn't do it by miracles. The target audience was the same - everybody. ("All nations.")

Jesus's message of love was meant to be universal otherwise it's meaningless.

Yes, Trump had in mind overwhelming the illegal anti-American sanctuary cities with the illegals they profess to love so much. I rather like the cleverness of that idea but I'm aware that there are people in those cities who are not happy with their sanctuary status and I don't want to make life difficult for them too. The main difference is that sanctuary cities are not violating Federal or any law. They are refusing, as is their right and duty, to enforce Federal law for the agencies responsible for the enforcement.Do you really believe that this administration would not act if they were really violating Feder law?Exactly what Federal law do you think they are violating? What sanctuary cities are doing is not illegal. If it were Trump would have prosecuted them long ago.If you want to argue that their inactions are illegal, cite the specific applicable law.
