Would it be ok if the aliens doing all this genetic engineering were called chemistry and entropy?

YEC Professor of Biology: "Er, sorry . I don't accept the concept of UCA so I don't understand how antibiotic resistance works. If you want to someone to explain it to you, you'll have to go to a different university." You've been to Liberty University! Or was that Oral Roberts?Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Well, you do have a lot on your plate, that you put there btw, so I guess, with such limited abilities, we should expect some lapses. Now, once again, what you got? Some kind of evidence? Some kind of feeling? I'd love to hear about the voices in your heart. Or ... or! Could you be recieving alien transmissions over that aluminum hat you wear? Is that a Stetson or Fedora style?Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

AZPaul3 writes: Would it be ok if the aliens doing all this genetic engineering were called chemistry and entropy? No, that would add up to a superstitious fantasy akin to spontaneous generation, which is not a scientific explanation. Try doing genetic engineering without them. And I'm sure that in your twisted little mind not much fits as a scientific explanation.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

... without producing any observable macroevolution ... And mammalia doesn't count ... why? We have the rodents in the Cretaceous through pretty much the entire radiation of mammals extent today as our example of microevolution resulting in a wide deep spread of macroevolution. We even have cow-like hippo things turning into fish-like whale things. So what you got, again?
I predict that in ten years time, my "aliens did it" theory will have largely replaced the outdated and childishly inadequate theory of Darwinian evolution. And I predict that in 10 years time you'll be on two additional statins and a beta-blocker and you'll need to go pee every 3 hours. Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Or do you mean pictures of fossils, the gaps between which you fill with ToE? If by "fill with ToE" you mean by filling those gaps with the same processes we see where there are no gaps, yea, that's about right. I guess you have a problem with the logic on this, don't you.
You mean "receiving". I do indeed.
my aluminium hat is shaped like a radar dish. I haven't received any transmissions yet You might want to try the Fedora style. I understand the folds are more conducive to the alien communication waveform.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

A nineteenth century theory based on the superstition of spontaneous generation and which is contradicted by fossil evidence are perfectly good reasons for concluding that that theory is grossly inadequate and suspect. Then I'm glad no one subscribes to such a theory. We have the ToE which is so much better, so accurate, so successful, so predictive. Amazing what science can do with facts.Eschew obfuscation. non-natural processes You mean as in smoke and mirrors majik? Maybe more like she sneezed her nose at some DNA?
When I'm wearing my God hat, I believe the fossil record can be explained only by miracles and divine intervention. You forgot the nose sneezing.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

I know next to nothing about genetic engineering If the genius doesn't know anything about the subject then why is he expounding on it? That's not genius. That's egomaniac delusion. Is your hair orange?Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Do you think Prof. Gelernter's views have any credence with the keepers of the sacred ToE?
He's a religiously inspired computer programmer. I have as much influence over the intellectual directions of biology and evolution as does he. But his ideas are somewhat wacked as are yours so I'm thinking that kinship of delusion is your reason for citing him.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

This video (YouTube) is from the American Museum of Natural History.
Without an understanding of a UCA and the genetic bush that sprang from it, this stuff would be meaningless. Very interesting science at 3 min. And I like the philosophy to the end.

What a pity the theory of common descent can't be tested using the aforementioned method ... The aforementioned method of looking at the facts and making inferences from the logic behind them? We got that. And testing? Every new fossil found is another test. You've heard of tiktaalik, right? Then you know that its discovery was a product of prediction from ToE. Hard facts, libraries of data, frequent and rigorous testing, predictive capability and predictive success. That qualifies as scientific theory on any planet. And on this planet this ToE is especially productive and accurate. I mean, look at this place. Pond scum growing up everywhere. In just over 3.5+-bnys its taken over the whole damn planet and is making internet, Hagen-Dazs Chocolate Ice Cream and is reaching for the moon. And you got what, again?Eschew obfuscation. No. You supply a scientific article or paper that demonstrates that (no) practical use in any applied science is predicated on the concept of UCA.
You don't understand how crazy both requests are. Not surprised.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

And fossils confirm nothing at all about what caused these changes. Quite the contrary, Oh Demented One. Fossils give us great big clues to what happened and when. You just have to know how to look, something you with your religious fantasies are especially poor at. Then there is the genetic data, by the dredge-load, that more that very nicely verifies, challenges/changes, and fills in the rest of the gospel according to ToE.Eschew obfuscation.
