This is more absurd than funny, but I post it here:

Re: Climbing Everest
He-he-he
That would have been easier than checking in for my last flight to Atlanta. That was terrible. I had to take off all my clothes (except for my small undies) waiting in such a line. And got probed for foreign objects in places I didn't even know I had. What a job that was!

Re: Climbing Everest
from the absurd to the inevitable ending ... a Utah man died on the descent after making his bucket list climb to the peak.
quote:
Utah Man Is Among the Latest to Die Amid Traffic Jam of Hikers at Mount Everest
A Utah man who had set off with a goal to climb the highest peak on all seven continents died Wednesday after reaching the summit of Mount Everest.
Donald Lynn Cash, 54, fainted from high altitude sickness while taking photographs at the summit, according to the company Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd., which leads treks on Everest. While Sherpa guides with the company tried to keep him alive through CPR and by raising his oxygen pressure, Cash was unable to stand up or walk. As they tried to drag Cash down to a camp near Hillary Step, he fainted again and could not be revived, Pioneer Adventures said in a statement.
Now if only each person took some of the piles of garbage back down with them ...
Enjoy

I've heard that a lot of that garbage consists of the bodies of dead mountain climbers.

Proposed Additions to my Signature
I just thought of a couple new items for my signature.:
quote:
Clarke's Three Laws with proposed addition of a fourth law:
  1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
  2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
  3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
  4. God speaking to you is indistinguishable from a bad burrito.

And:
quote:
When God says diametrically opposed things to different people, does that then become yet another irresolvable case of "He said, He said"?
What do you think?
ABE:
My thanks to jar for the "bad burrito" argument. And to Percy for having tracked it down to Message 61, 2007.

Never mind bad burritos; I've got egg on my face.
I know that somebody here had originated that point (or at least was the first to mention it here on this forum, which is the first place I had encountered it), but I do not remember who. Yes, I did try a search, but it has proven so popular that several members use it now.
I would at least like to acknowledge the source.

To me it sounds like something Stragger would say.
