So now opposing open borders is racist?

There's a difference between racism and immigration barriers.
There are plenty of open borders types in rich liberal enclaves who favor restrictive zoning to keep people of color out of their neighborhoods (except to clean their pools and diaper their babies!) The New Republic

The "sanctuary city" people sound quite borderless.

All of that is quite true. Nevertheless, they do seem a bit lax in their attitudes towards the lines on the map, no?

I suppose you're right. It seems logical, doesn't it, that people who oppose immigration rules in one area might turn around and say they should work in another?

Culture can be good and culture can be bad. Just read the news about the Middle East sometime.

On the other hand, "changing demographic" might be a good description of what happened to the Navajo!

It shows their gates close at the borders of their gated communities (except for nannies and pool-cleaners, etc.) not at the borders of their country.

On the other hand, the change in "mix" wasn't so good for the Iroquois, was it?

So there you go! Some cultures can be respected, some practice certain practices that must not be respected.

If you think I've made a false statement, you're free to present your evidence for your thinking.

Humans have lived in the americas for only a blink of an eye compared to elsewhere on the globe. Even the "native americans" came here only a few thousand years ago. We are a land of immigrants and have been for the past ten thousand years. Successive waves of immigration have changed the entire western hemisphere. What we (the Iroquois and everyone else) have learned from these waves is that it is important to let in people like Enrico Fermi and not Carlo Ponzi, Carl Schurz and not Johann Breyer, Anthony Quinn and not Carlos Zuniga-Aviles, Antonio de Montesinos and not Francisco Pizarro.

That is, of course a much different issue!
Perhaps the procedures of your famous Ellis Island might be resurrected?
