First of all the book says that a majority is called to this communion yet a minority--few--accept it. You have claimed that the called are known by their works but that we are essentially saved--or chosen by our belief and works...which ideally go hand in hand. Thus the evidence of a regenerated soul would be joyous works...freely and willfully done.

Not exactly, no. But what can be done exactly in science anyway? I was thinking of a simulation. Can you think of some way of proving we are not in a simulation? The next step is to throw away the simulator and think of everything as merely a numeric code and us as characters in a book encoded in that number.

Such things can happen even to atheists. My sister-in-law is a case in point - she immigrated from China and was raised by staunchly Communist parents. She ridiculed Christianity as "ridiculous nonsense". About 12 years after marrying my (agnostic) brother, completely out the blue, according to her, "Jesus started talking to me". She literally heard him talking to her! She instantly become a very devout Christian.
