We're experiencing an interesting development related to Border Control. Three of the regular border crossings here have been closed, suddenly and intermittently. The latest is now closing off all non-commercial vehicle crossing from Mexico into the US at the Pharr International Bridge. No reasons given.Edited by jar, : left out which crossing is the latest

Some of us are actually old enough to remember quite well when we did not have clean air or drinkable water and were adults even at that time. It is only through legislation that placed limits on just how much pollution US Capitalism could dump into the air and water that we have any breathable air and any drinkable water. Unfortunately, in the case of drinkable water US capitalism has refused to do the necessary maintenance and upgrades needed to deliver drinkable water and also continues to pollute our air.Edited by jar, : appalin spallin

It's only a problem if folk want it to be a problem. What if instead of detention centers we funded orientation centers where folk got medical care, a short course on US laws, job training or job placement and send the folk on their way to becoming citizens?The cost would be he same or less and the outcome would be an enthusiastic workforce.

Which is yet another disgrace found in the USA. So let's address that issue as well. They are and have always been a minority and we already have a legal system in place to address criminals. Maybe it would make sense if the USA moved the resources it wastes fighting peaceful folk looking for a better life or on the War on Drugs towards feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, comforting the sorrowful, healing the sick, sheltering the homeless, protecting the helpless.
