I agree with everything you say here.
On top of that, anyone in their 60's who has been in politics is probably going to have something sexist, mysogynistic, racist, or anachronistic in their past which can be dug up and paraded about.
I think in situations where this does come up the candidate's only response should be replaying "Access Holywood tape" and a list of the women who accused Trump, and no other discussion.

Exactly. All of the current top 15 Democratic candidates are better than Trump, so let's not trip on not having a perfect candidate an instead elect a better candidate.
I'm have trouble thinking of anyone who would not be better than Trump. The only ones are already dictators, oh well, and also all the idiots who support Trump. So there are millions who are not better than Trump....never mind.

Pete Buttigieg
I haven't decided if I like any of them yet, but I have seen several interviews with the mayor, and he is very articulate and he seems really comfortable on the national stage.
He is very young, but still has an impressive resume. I don't expect him to be a finalist this time, but this young man has the future. I can easily picture him as President some day.
The thought of a career sitting in meetings makes me shudder, so I'm glad there are some good people who actually seek such a career.

Re: The candidates
Pelosi, Clinton and Warren come to mind as being disingenuous and hyper-partisan.
And they're all women, but I have a hard time imagining any Democrat in leadership or candidate positions not being hyper-partisan, after dealing with Mitch McConnell and Congressional Republicans this past decade.
And they are each expert-level knowledgeable in their field, Congress and the law and effective leadership, world affairs, and banking and finance. You may not like their personalities or histories, but I don't think you can credibly deny their qualifications. I am always amazed that there are people who would intentionally seek jobs that consist of sitting in meetings, all day, every day.
Disingenuous is a good word. I would say it can be validly used to describe most politicians.
Can you name any Republicans that are not hyper-partisan considering Trump's 90+% approval from Republicans?

I feel the same way about warren. She might hold her own with Trump, but right now I am hoping one of the younger people will emerge as likely winner against President Shit-for-Brains. That and dominating the House and Senate are as important in my mind as policy. Policy is important but if you don't have the power it means nothing.

Re: Jon Stewart schools Congress
I guess the main takeaway from my perspective is Congress is always going to be partisan. But I think they all need to take a step back in times like this and just simply set aside differences and at long last, do the right thing.
The "right thing" is never going to be in the Republican bag of tricks.

Re: The candidates

Did you miss the part where I was critical of men on the list or that I lauded Tulsi Gabbard as being 1 of 2 considerations for my vote?
I didn't see any men on the list in the message I was answering.
quote:
Pelosi, Clinton and Warren come to mind as being disingenuous and hyper-partisan.
You cited Mitch McConnell in the previous paragraph... does his "expert-level knowledge" give him any credibility? No, I didn't think so... I mean, to say that a politician is knowledgeable of politics is about as redundant as a plumber being knowledgeable about plumbing.
I am unaware of Mitch McConnell having any knowledge in any of the fields I listed other than Congress. And I did not say anything about knowledge of politics.

Hyropglyphx writes:
Because of this hyper-partisan political climate we live in, as soon as I was critical of people from the Democratic Party you rushed in to counter with Republicans.
Actually I rushed in to point out that hyperpartisonship is hardly surprising considering McConnell's anti-American bullshit.

Because as it stands, CPB is enforcing laws that Congress passed. And then Congress are the one's who bitch about it as if CPB has any control over what laws are passed. I mean... seriously?
So, Congress passed a law that says the border patrol has to lock people up in cells with standing room only, no sanitation or medical care? Congress passed a law that says children of all ages should be locked up in cages with no sanitation or adult care?
I'll tell you what, let's just shoot them all, then everyone will be happy.[/sarcasm]

I think 90% of that controversy is embellished, but I don't want to get lost in the weeds in the minutia.
Well, the minutia of humane treatment of humans is something I grew up thinking America stood for.
I'm curious to know what precisely most Democrats want when it comes to the border. Everything I've seen seems to indicate an open border.
I have no idea what an open border is.
I personally remember when there was an orderly flow of workers from Mexico back and forth across the border and they were welcomed. Some stayed and eventually became citizens and contributed to America's prosperity.
So what is it that Democrats want when it comes to immigration policy?
I don't know. What is it that Trump wants? It appears to me that what we have right now is exactly what Trump wants.
One side in this issue are assholes that are lying about the impact immigrants and refugees have on our country and they make me ashamed that they are humans.
They have diminished the "American Dream" to the point it is unrecognizable.
