Re: Obama's birthplace
And then we get the next layer of deception: EVEN IF HE WAS BORN IN KENYA (oh really?) it wouldn't have been unconstitutional (then why make such a big deal out of denying it?), or what about Ted Cruz?. That one is a real red flag, practically an admission that you now that Obama was born in Kenya, if you want to make an issue of another candidate's similar circumstances.
Yes, it is indeed a red flag being raised to warn us of this birther deception and how it masks conservative racism (you know, the subject of this topic).
You might have been thinking of a red herring, which the questions we're raising definitely are not.
However, your frantic attempts to distract and divert most definitely are red herrings.

Re: Try honesty Faith, you might even like it.
He performs his duties just fine despite massive obstruction, refusal to cooperate and constant harassment no other President has ever had to endure but the constant opposition interferes with his efforts.
As JonF points out in Message 684, you are describing President Obama there.
But instead with Trump, in Message 651 you painted a picture of him being so unable to cope that he cannot get any work done. And even Trump has complained that he cannot work as long as anyone (eg, the press) criticizes him.
So which is it? Does all this criticism and attempts to investigate (which is Congress' job and which Trump is obstructing) is keeping Trump from being able to function, in which case Trump is not fit for the job. Or is Trump able to "perform his duties just fine despite ... ", in which case your whining about how he's being treated is meaningless.
Which is it? Because you cannot have it both ways. Get your stories straight!

I never claimed that you did, so DO NOT MISREPRESENT WHAT I SAY! Wow, you will go to any lengths to avoid simple questions.
Yes you did say that. Go read your Message 673 where you say
DWise1 writes:
was pointing out your (pl) gross hypocrisy by supporting Cruz and rejecting Obama with your birther BS when Obama qualifies more as a citizen than Cruz.
Yes, I read it. I even wrote it. So why didn't you (sing) read it?
Does your massive igniurunce also extend to the most basic aspects of English? Do you really have no conception of number? Do you really not understand that higher-level concept, the plural? Really? Or are you also becoming as megalomaniacal as Trump and have taken to referring to yourself in the plural?
I very explicitly wrote "your (pl)" to indicate that I was using the plural form of "your" instead of singular -- it is unfortunate that English no longer distinguishes between the two forms. I did so to indicate explicitly and unambiguously that I was not referring to you personally, but rather to a collection of people, birthers.
Wow! If you are unable to handle the plural, then your mind will be completely blown away when I use the subjunctive.
So my objection still stands: DO NOT MISREPRESENT WHAT I SAY!

Re: Protests and counter protests at Islamic conference
You misrepresented what I said (cleared up at Message 722) in order to distract and divert away from the same question you've been asked over and over again about your birther BS: SO WHAT?
More specifically from my Message 694, which you just avoided yet again:
DWise1 writes:
What possible importance could you attach to the question of whether Obama was born in an US state (or territory, as in Goldwater's and McCain's cases) or not? You cleave so tightly to your false Kenya-birth claim that it appears that you believe it to be very important. What exactly is that importance supposed to be?
Answer the damned question! Stop avoiding it!

Re: I forgot about Snopes
One of the benefits of that link to Snope's is that they display the long form so we can see and read it for ourselves.
Faith claims that she had examined it herself and could clearly see that it was a forgery:
In Message 669
Faith writes:
DWise1 writes:
Besides, we do have the official full birth certificate from Hawaii, which in 1961 was a state in the United States.
Give it a really good careful look some time. It's an obvious forgery.
Well, I have given it a really good careful look now and I can find absolutely nothing that would indicate forgery. Yet again, we have no idea what Faith thinks that she saw.

Yet more deflection and diversion!
Are you or are you not a birther?
Have you ever denounced Ted Cruz as you do Obama? I didn't think so.
Have you heard other birthers denouncing Cruz as they do Obama? I didn't think so.
And you are still dodging the question from my Message 694:

Re: I forgot about Snopes
I looked carefully at the birth certificate and decided on the basis of what's on it that it was a forgery, so you can't get away with accusing me of deciding that in advance.
Well, I have given it a really good careful look now and I can find absolutely nothing that would indicate forgery. Yet again, we have no idea what you think that you saw.
So please describe to us exactly what you saw that's supposed to show that it was a forgery.
And while you're at it, also answer the other question that you are so terrified of: what importance are you attaching to your idea of where Obama was born? Why are you so fixated on it when it wouldn't mean a damned thing?
Edited by dwise1, : change of verbal tense to conditional: "when it doesn't mean a damned thing" to "when it wouldn't mean a damned thing"

Sounds like Trump wants to build the Gates of Mordor. Ludicrous! Who does he think he is, Sauron?
Well, come to think of it, the Gates of Mordor were operated by trolls, weren't they? It was trolls who got Trump into office, so he does owe them. And he is constantly bending over backwards to do the bidding of those Russian trolls' masters. So maybe there's more to that after all.

Re: I forgot about Snopes
That birth certificate looks normal but it also isn't what I remember seeing.
It's the same birth certificate now as it was then, so it also looked normal when you saw it.
But the question still remains as to why you think that this is a thing. Exactly what difference would it make? Could it possibly make?
And why are you so terrified of that question?

That's the image that Trump gives us. Pure fantasy! Absolutely ridiculous!
His id10tic idea of a grossly grandiose wall (yet another instance of Tiny Trump trying to compensate for his more personal shortcomings) is gross waste. In terms of national security, a continuous wall is the most expensive and least effective measure. It won't stop drugs, because they come through ports of entry where the money wasted on a wall would be put to better use with more personnel and better technology.
And now he's taking money away from military construction to pay for his boondoggle. How many of those projects include upgrading housing (which has become a major problem, in part because they've been farmed out to private companies)? Making military members suffer so that Trump can try to boost his ego again.

Your opinions are just your opinions, heavy with hatred of Trump, they carry no weight whatever..
Except for the facts that back them up. You know what facts are, don't you? That "f-word" that you hate so much.
Look at that quote again:
quote:
The fence was different from the wall Trump promised to build on the campaign trail, which he said would be made of "hardened concrete" as tall as "95 stories" with a "very big, very beautiful door."
How tall is 95 stories? Trump's Manhattan phallic symbol, Trump Tower, is only 58 stories tall (664 feet), so Trump's dreamed of wall would be 1.64 times as tall at about 1,090 feet.
We could also compare it to another massive structure, this one built of concrete: Boulder Dam. At 726.4 feet tall, Boulder Dam would be only 2/3rds as tall as Trump's 95-story wall. Construction cost was $664 million in 2018 dollars and it is only 1,244 ft long (about 1/3 mile). It took about five years to complete. The border is 1,954 miles long. Using Boulder Dam as the metric, Trump's 95-story wall would cost nearly $4 trillion and take thousands of years to complete -- Trump would have died in prison long before the completion of his new phallic symbol.
Boulder Dam is so massive that there's still concrete inside it that hasn't cured. Indeed, the problems posed by working with that much concrete were daunting (Boulder Dam: Concrete):
quote:
Since concrete heats and contracts as it cures, the potential for uneven cooling and contraction of the concrete posed a serious problem. Bureau of Reclamation engineers calculated that if the dam were to be built in a single continuous pour, the concrete would take 125 years to cool, and the resulting stresses would cause the dam to crack and crumble. Instead, the ground where the dam would rise was marked with rectangles, and concrete blocks in columns were poured, some as large as 50 ft square (15 m) and 5 feet (1.5 m) high. Each five-foot form contained a set of 1-inch (25 mm) steel pipes; cool riverwater would be poured through the pipes, followed by ice-cold water from a refrigeration plant. When an individual block had cured and had stopped contracting, the pipes were filled with grout. Grout was also used to fill the hairline spaces between columns, which were grooved to increase the strength of the joints.
Now it's your turn to show us that Trump's dream of a wall is not absolutely ridiculous and a gargantuan waste.
Now this past week we had Trump ordering his minions to break any law it takes to get his wall built -- he assured them that he would pardon them (this guy is so incredibly self-impeaching). That includes seizing private lands from private citizen. Rep Will Hurd, whose district is on that border, knows all too well how strongly his constituents feel about private property rights and therefore how well Trump seizing their lands for a ludicrous boondoggle will go over. Add to that how big gun ownership is in Texas.
Add to all that the simple fact that a wall is the most expensive and least effective way to secure a border. It is more effective to put that funding where it will actually do something to protect our border.
So then, it's not just my own opinion, but rather the facts which expose Trump's "95-story" wall as totally useless waste.
And, yes, I do hate Trump, that cheap criminal who is destroying our country and our economy and international relations at the bidding of his Russian masters. But of course you're just fine with that.

I leave it to Trump and his advisors to decide what sort of wall is best, since your opinions really mean nothing to me at all.
A 95-story wall? That's what Trump called for. What his advisors think doesn't matter, since Trump does not take advice. He doesn't know anything and he doesn't want to learn. He's living in a fantasy and selling his gullible base on that fantasy. That fantasy violates reality, but it sells because both Trump and his base are divorced from reality.
BTW, the prototypes for the wall have been tested and were easily defeated. A wall alone does not work.
... , since your opinions really mean nothing to me at all.
Understandable since I'm speaking from decades of experience living and working in the real world. I'm speaking from the perspective of reality. And we are all far too well aware of how much you hate reality.
And Trump did no such thing as "order his minions" to break the law. He makes jokes that go over people's heads.
Yes, he did. The cover-up story of "he's just joking" is now the best that the exhausted WH can come up with in their constant attempts at damage control.
It's obvious that he's not joking when he says these outrageous things. Even when he does it to deflect and divert our attention from his other malfeasances (eg, his financial shenanigans, the uncovering of revelations about his various crimes), he wants us to take them seriously in order for them to have the desired red-herring effect.
There's a Russian saying (how appropriate when talking about Trump) I learned: "‘ ." ("Above the rectum, you do not fart.") There's also an interesting fact (there's that f-word again) that in the UK, "trump" means "fart". So considering from how low a source Trump's utterances come, it's virtually impossible for them to go over anybody's head. Except for those in his base, like you.

ABE
Actually, we have seen Trump joke so we know what it looks like.
Remember recently at the G20 in Osaka when Trump and Putin were sitting next to each other at an international press conference. For context, keep in mind that we have so much evidence of Russian interference in our elections in 2016 and their continuing offensive operations against us for 2020, all while Trump and Moscow Mitch refuse to do anything to defend our country against attack.
Trump was asked to tell Putin to not meddle in our elections. Trump was smiling and kind of chuckling as he told Putin not to meddle and even pointed his finger and Putin did an ear tug to keep from laughing out loud.
Now that is what a Trump joke really looks like.
BTW, you can find lots more clips of that from various sources on this YouTube search results page.
Also BTW, look at that image of them shaking hands and read the body language. Extending your hand palm-up is assuming the submissive position, whereas having your hand on top (palm-down) is the dominant. I've never seen Trump shaking hands with Putin without assuming the submissive position.
