Hi Jon
There was 50 soldiers in the area that was being withdrawn and have already been removed from the area. God Bless"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

OK. I don't see why the number of soldiers withdrawn matters. What matters is abandoning the Kurds by giving Turkey free rein.
Last year Trump said we will not forget the Kurds. But we have to spread the word that the US government owes nothing to groups that fight and die for us.

Indeed, the small number makes withdrawing them less comprehensible. If they were there to discourage Turkey from attacking - and the low number makes that plausible - removing them would be a signal that an attack was OK.

I wonder what 50 soldiers could do against an invading army with tanks and heavy artillery. Just wondering... They don't have to do anything. Turkey won't risk war with the United States by injuring our soldiers. As long as they are there it provides a shield for the Kurds. That's why the Turkish president wants Trump to remove our troops. What if Eleanor Roosevelt had wings? -- Monty Python One important characteristic of a theory is that is has survived repeated attempts to falsify it. I wonder what 50 soldiers as a symbol of America's commitment would do. Doesn't matter now that we've renounced that commitment.
It's good our soldiers are still alive. We don't owe the 10,000 Kurds who died for us anything, they're just brown people. Brown people are just cannon fodder. Their lives don't count.

This whole thing stinks like hell.

JohnF writes: It's good our soldiers are still alive. We don't owe the 10,000 Kurds who died for us anything, they're just brown people. Brown people are just cannon fodder. Their lives don't count. If I understand our mission was to remove iss from the area. When did we take the mission of solving the war that has been going on between the kurds and turkey since 1984? Turkey wants their border to be safe and have a 20 mile wide safe zone in which settlements would be created for the millions of Syrians that are living in Turkey now. We cannot control our own border so there is no way we could secure the Turkish border for them. Turkey feels threatened by the (YPG), the military wing of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD). They insist the YPG is an extension of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) which has fought for Kurdish autonomy in Turkey since 1984. The (PKK) is designated as a terrorist group by the US and EU. I would imagine the PYD has been negotiated with by Turkey and could not reach an agreement as to the 20 mile deep safe zone in Syria to resettle the 2+ million Syrians back in their own country, so the war goes on, just like it has for the past 35 years. Since I do not have the facts I can not choose a position. The only thing I can say is it is a local problem and they should work out their own future. It is not for us to force our will on others when we are so divided in our relations with one another. ISIS hasn't been removed from the area. There are ~15000 prisoners (fighters/ sympathizers) being held by the Kurds in camps. Do you think the Kurds are going to continue to hold onto them while also fighting off the Turks? It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds soon I discovered that this rock thing was true Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet All of a sudden i found myself in love with the world And so there was only one thing I could do Was ding a ding dang my dang along ling long - Jesus Built my Hotrod Ministry Live every week like it's Shark Week! - Tracey Jordan Just a monkey in a long line of kings. - Matthew Good If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! - Get Your War On *not an actual doctor

The Kurds took on the responsibility for eliminating ISIS from the area. They were our allies. Until Trump fucked them over.
How do you think we should treat allies who died for us instead of our soldiers?

They were our allies. Until Trump fucked them over. And it turns out Trump has a profitable hotel in Turkey. Amazing that Trump always knows the most corrupt people on the planet. Guess which country spends the most at Trump's properties? ICANT writes: What matters is our soldiers are still alive. It's hard to recruit allies when you are willing to abandon them in order to save your own troops. In case you forgot, the US used to consider itself courageous. I guess that has changed with this new president.
I wonder what 50 soldiers could do against an invading army with tanks and heavy artillery. It would prevent those armies and tanks from firing at the Kurdish army to begin with because killing US troops has dire consequences.

Turkey wants their border to be safe and have a 20 mile wide safe zone in which settlements would be created for the millions of Syrians that are living in Turkey now. Hitler said something similar to Neville Chamberlain. Turkey has wanted to wipe out the Kurds for a long time. This isn't about a safe zone. This is about attacking the Kurds. If they want a safe zone, then they should build one in their own country.
Since I do not have the facts I can not choose a position. The only thing I can say is it is a local problem and they should work out their own future. It is not for us to force our will on others when we are so divided in our relations with one another. It seems that you also forgot that the US used to be a leader in the world.
