This thread brings up yet more evidence that the US Education system is fundamentally flawed.
Why aren't Americans aware of the Armenian Massacres by the Young Turk government? Why aren't Americans aware of all the times we've screwed the Kurds over the last 100 years? Why aren't Americans aware that the US has used troops as a trip wire, successfully, to prevent major wars; most recently through the deployment of troops in the Fulda Gap during the Cold War? Hi Dr
DrJones writes: ISIS hasn't been removed from the area. There are ~15000 prisoners (fighters/ sympathizers) being held by the Kurds in camps. Do you think the Kurds are going to continue to hold onto them while also fighting off the Turks? The Kurds have just spent a lot of time, energy and lives putting those iss fighters in prison. Why would they turn them loose? The Turks are to be responsible for those prisoners so why not work with the Turks like they did with the US? Maybe they can't do that as they have had a running war with Turkey for the past 35+ years. They need to solve their problems. We can not solve their problems for them. Hi Jon
JonF writes: The Kurds took on the responsibility for eliminating ISIS from the area. They were our allies. Until Trump fucked them over. I gather you would rather be at war with Turkey. Which would ask Nato to come to it's support placing us at war with Nato. But we are members of Nato that has we are committed to defend in time of an attack. What would be your decision is such a case? Would you go to war with Turkey and Nato? Turkey determined it was in their best interest to create a buffer zone between Turkey and Syria in which to settle the millions of Syrians refugees that are now in Turkey. Hi Taq
Taq writes: It's hard to recruit allies when you are willing to abandon them in order to save your own troops. In case you forgot, the US used to consider itself courageous. I guess that has changed with this new president. So you vote we go to war with Turkey and the rest of Nato. All the Nato members are pledged to come to the defense of any member that is attacked. How would you like to be in the position of making the decision that had to be made? It is easy to sit on the sidelines and second guess the decision. Options: Go to war with Nato members.OR Allow Turkey to finish creating the safe zone buffer in Northern Syria. What is your choice? Why would they turn them loose?
cause they need the manpower to fight the Turks/evacuate their own people.
The Turks are to be responsible for those prisoners so why not work with the Turks like they did with the US
cause the Turks are coming to kill the Kurds, that's like asking the Jewish people of Europe to cooperate with the Nazis.
We can not solve their problems for them.
but you can stand by and let them get slaughtered after they fought for you. Hi Taq
Taq writes: The moment we took them on as allies. It saddens me that this has to be explained to you. How about explaining to me when we ceased being allies of Turkey who we are committed to defend.
Taq writes: Turkey has wanted to wipe out the Kurds for a long time. This isn't about a safe zone. This is about attacking the Kurds. If they want a safe zone, then they should build one in their own country. Why should they build a safe zone in Turkey to build settlements in which to house 2 million+ Syrians that are refugees in Turkey? If they did that they would have to make them citizens of Turkey. So they want to build the settlements in Syria which they are citizens.
Taq writes: It seems that you also forgot that the US used to be a leader in the world. No I have not forgotten that we used to be leaders in the world. But in the last 50 years we have ceased to be leaders and become a bully that has been trying to force our views on other countries. Thus we have been in endless wars since the Korean conflict, and have not won one of them. It seems we have tried to become the old Roman Empire or Babylonian Empire. It did not work out too well for them as neither exist today. God Bless."John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Why should they build a safe zone in Turkey to build settlements in which to house 2 million+ Syrians that are refugees in Turkey? That is what a good government and good neighbor would do.
But in the last 50 years we have ceased to be leaders and become a bully that has been trying to force our views on other countries. Were we forcing our views on the Kurds? Do you disagree with the Kurdish led and US supported war on ISIS?

Go to war with Nato members.
leave the troops there as a tripwire. Don't greenlight a turkish assault without consulting military and diplomatic subject matter experts. Actually consult said experts and take the time to try to negotiate a solution instead of just leaving the Kurds to their fate (again). trump is supposed to be some kind of master dealmaker but his solution is to just turn tail and let the Kurds die instead of risking his Turkish business deals.OR Allow Turkey to finish creating the safe zone buffer in Northern Syria. What is your choice? Hillary Clinton brought this up back in 2016. https://twitter.com/HillaryClinton/status/776097265270292480 Edited by DrJones*, : No reason given. It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds soon I discovered that this rock thing was true Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet All of a sudden i found myself in love with the world And so there was only one thing I could do Was ding a ding dang my dang along ling long - Jesus Built my Hotrod Ministry Live every week like it's Shark Week! - Tracey Jordan Just a monkey in a long line of kings. - Matthew Good If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! - Get Your War On *not an actual doctor

I gather you would rather be at war with Turkey.
That's just your fantasy.
Turkey determined it was in their best interest to create a buffer zone between Turkey and Syria in which to settle the millions of Syrians refugees that are now in Turkey and wipe out the Kurds who fought and died for us.
FIFY. Do you unquestioningly support any decision that Turkey makes? Edited by JonF, : No reason given.

Alliance with the Kurds and alliance with NATO/Turkey are not incompatible.
The binary thinking that makes them unable to conceive of more than two opposite possibilities seems to be a distinguishing characteristic of RWNJs.
