And just how many hundred years would you suggest we prepare to keep troops there?

Hi Dr.
DrJones writes: until the point where removing them doesn't inevitably lead to genocide. In the words of a great man "You broke it, you bought it". ISIS was in Syria running roughshod over the inhabitants. The U.S. went in to stop ISIS. The Kurds were fighting the ISIS fighters before we got there. So they did not fight and die for our benefit but for their own survival. We helped them not them helping us. So what did we break? How many American soldiers would you suggest that we should put at risk in a civil war between Turkey and the Kurds? How many should be sacrificed to the war Gods? The Kurds have been fighting with Turkey for 40+ years why should we fight that war? We are bound by treaty to defend Turkey. His supporters would be disappointed if he didn't. In todays news, it appears that The Republicans (whom he needs on his side to fight the impeachment) have blasted him for the Kurdish situation. The only people whom he has left in his camp are the base. And they are nuts. What I can't figure out is why they are largely Christians! Chance as a real force is a myth. The Kurds are citizens of Syria and Syria is not one of our allies. Turkey is one of our allies so do you suggest we go to war with them? Turkey has been warning for almost a year that they were going to set up a safe zone in Syria for the 2 million+ citizens of Syria that has enter Turkey to return too and to live in. So what is the problem with that?"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

If not for them our soldiers would have had to fight and die. That's an ally helping us, We broke them by throwing them to the wolves. And we further broke our reputation as a nation that honors its obligations. Turks versus Syrian Kurds is not a civil war.

The Kurds fought and died for us. We owe them no matter what papers exist or don't exist. We used to endorse the concept of honor. Now we have none.
Turkey has been warning for almost a year that they were going to set up a safe zone in Syria for the 2 million+ citizens of Syria that has enter Turkey to return too and to live in.
The fact that their real and obvious goal is to wipe out the Kurds. So what is the problem with that? Edited by JonF, : No reason given.

It seems like an efficient and effective use of troops, unlike most of the military adventures that the US gets involved in. They should be doing it in many more places around the world.

The Senators will fall in line and acquit no matter what the evidence. That is, if Moscow Mitch lets it get that far.

That's how they label themselves. That doesn't make them followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Us nuts support the President because: He fights for the principals we believe in that are guaranteed by our Constitution. Freedom of speech for everyone not just the liberals that believe freedom of speech does not apply for conservatives. He is pro life.He supports the 2nd amendment. We have the best economy that has existed in my 80 years on earth. He believes we should be a country with borders. He does not support assuming financial responsibility for illegal aliens. He believes we should obey our laws and enforce them. He supports our military, and police. He is willing to stand up against the establishment including the Rinos He is fighting to level the playing field around the world. He is building a wall on our southern border and Mexico is paying a hefty price for part of that wall as they have 27,000 soldiers on its southern border which has drastically reduced the number of illegal's crossing our border with Mexico. He has brought business back to the U>S. He has said my Medicare is going to stay safe, not destroyed. He has said my Social Security that I paid into is going to stay safe. He does not support a federal government takeover of healthcare. He does not support us becoming a socialist country. He does not support going back to the 1800's. Climate control. These are just some of the reasons as you put it that we the base who are "nuts" is the only ones left supporting the President."John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

We helped them not them helping us.
really? how many casualties did the US suffer in the fight against ISIS? How many do you think you would have suffered if the kurds weren't there?
So what did we break
Granted the Middle East has been a clusterfuck for a long time but the second Iraq war can be labelled as a source of the most recent batch of troubles.
why should we fight that war?
nobody is saying fight that war. Leaving the Us troops there prevents that war cause Turkey isn't going to go to war with the US. A stabilizing force can give time for negotiations, but trump wants to run away.
We are bound by treaty to defend Turkey.
and vice versa, do you really think Turkey is going to declare war on the US? Hi Jon
JonF writes: As many as it takes, which would have almost certainly been none had we stayed. . Turkey had announced their plans for months what makes you think they would not have carried out those plans. They are armed to the teeth with our best military weapons. So let me rephrase my question. Would you be willing to go to Syria and put your life on the line to protect the Kurds? If you say you are too old and you have children or grandchildren are you willing for them to go to Syria and put their life on the line to protect the Kurds? I am 80 years old and I would be willing to fight and die to protect the second amendment right to keep and bear arms. But I would not be willing to go to Syria and fight for the Kurds. Outsiders can not solve a family feud.
JonF writes: The fact that their real and obvious goal is to wipe out the Kurds. The Kurds have the goal to wipe out the Turks. This is a family feud that started with 2 brothers some 3,000 years ago. Do you really think we can solve such a problem. The only way to solve the problem would be to kill all of them or for them to decide to stop the feud. Wow, you have a very, very limited intellect. The only idea you have is war. And you have no answers to our questions. The best solution would be to have never started this clusterfuck by leaving the status quo. Since that's obviously impossible I suggest sending our 50 troops back.

And they are smart enough not to do anything while our troops were there.

Why do you think war is the only answer? If you say you are too old and you have children or grandchildren are you willing for them to go to Syria and put their life on the line to protect the Kurds? I'm a USMC Vietnam vet. Where were you?
The Kurds have the goal to wipe out the Turks.
Bullshit. The Kurds have a goal of their own country.
